Notoriety 1

How long does Notoriety 1 last?

I accidentally hit clean NPC in Haz Rez at about 14:30
Jumped to anarchy station
Waited 3 hours
Logged out
Logged in
Jumped to another system
Jumped back
Still Notoriety 1

19:22 now, what have I done wrong???

I don't believe you can wait it out at a station. It has to be two hours of "active play" in the hot ship. Soooo, mat farming or CZ activities. I'd propose surface activities or mining but you need to stay in the hot ship and you don't want to mess around cleaning hot modules.

Edit*

I also have now restricted all offensive activity (has rez, CZ, and USS plundering) to anarchy systems.... It's not worth the trouble of reliving the "Ram Scan" era throughout the universe.

If you're docking, there's your problem. Doesn't decrease while docked apparently.
ah, didn't realize that, good to know, thanks.

I suppose that makes sense. To avoid the "bad guys" getting rid of their notoriety by just docking leaving the game running.
Though I suppose you could still do the same by dropping out to some random area of normal space.

Many thanks chaps... now in deep space... will report back in 2 hours and 5 mins... unless I get the urge to accept my new criminal status and go cleaner hunting ;)

reading through the comments... it kinda begs the question, why shouldn't it just be two hours regardless of being logged in? I mean, for the most part, who cares if a cmdr psychopath is logged in or not serving their sentence. I understand that staying logged and keeping the detention specific to game time ensures the punishment is served while playing. But I'm OK with the psycho's logging off for a few instead of afk'ing a trip to Hutton...

Maybe I'm missing something.

Sometimes devs aren't 100% sure which case it will work. Forcing player to live thug's life instead of skipping it might be devs wanted to go. Doesn't mean it won't change in future.

Here's another item regarding the OP's experience.

Last I checked, you have to KILL a non wanted "innocent" target in an system that isn't in a state of lawless Anarchy to get Notoriety.

Soooo, thoughts?

OK, time spent in deep space ended in destruction... re spawned back at station, notoriety still 1, I guess I am bugged :(

It is not true yet. At the moment if you get assault bounty, you are chased out of system and thus notoriety. It might change in future.

As for these complains - don't be trigger happy with overpowered weapons, that's all.

You're right. It's completely pointless when you can just sit in a dock or on a planet somewhere. It doesn't encourage you to play the game, just to leave the game on, wasting electricity while you do something else. Now if notoriety was reduced by doing good deeds e.g transporting medicines for outbreaks, food for famine relief, rescuing people from thargoid damaged stations etc, that would actually encourage you to play the game as well as making much more sense from an immersion point of view. Of course, that would involve more coding than simply checking a 'logged in' timer.

I assume by 'hit' you actually killed the NPC (or it was finished off by other ships soon after)? Notoriety is only for kills.

Notoriety wears off after a couple of hours. Ignore the system where you are wanted and go elsewhere for a bit, and watch out for scans / random bounty hunters who are easy to avoid.

It should be gone in 2 hours. Try quitting the game then restarting?

When I was doing REZ combat and get notoriety 1 I had another backup system with a REZ site and would go play there. Thus notoriety did not effect game play...unless I got another one.

@OP You don't really have to wait it out somewhere "safe". I few weeks back i ran my Notoriety up to 10 and apart from avoiding some of my usual areas I carried on as normal but maybe about 30 ly away.

Hello! @sallymorganmoore Can we get some help on these 2 issues? https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/41193 https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/41190 Thing is, after patch 6, there is some things with Notoriety. We get it in Anarchy systems, killing Anarchy ships, and for settlements. I think this is major thing for Odyssey, since we do our farm mostly in Anarchy systems, and this bug hinders it alot.

Also can new "crime loot" can be toggable thing from Controls? If we intend to steal things I would like to do it in fast click, I am sure as most of us xD

Aside from that, Patch 6 is great! I love new AMD FSR, picture is amazing, and got few FPSes on top :)
