Notority timer

Hi, would it be possible to put a timer on the notoriety, counting down to when it next reduced for example.
Sitting around for two hours at a station with a Interstellar factors contact isn't a lot of fun.
Also is 2 hrs really nessassary? I understand its to deter Griefing but even still that's a LOOOONG time...

Crank it up, Fdev! INCREASE the cost multiplier and timer for higher Notoriety numbers on player deaths!

for NPC clean kills, a flat cumulative 30 min timer and x1.0 multiplier, notoriety won't scale past 1


So, If you gankers don't like that, you can always go solo, care bares.

if used correctly, Notoriety could be the thing that single handedly revives open.

Now, if I understand how you get Notoriety is by a player kill, right? And the value of the bounty is partly calculated by the difference in your cost between your ship's rebuy and your prey?

Then let the multiplier be much much much higher the higher your notoriety goes. So, gank all you like, but when you have 5, 10, 100 mil or even a billion, 10 billion or 100 billion credits of bounties stacked up, then you can think twice on how you want to go around pestering other people who more then likely wish to be left alone.

This doesn't stop you of course, but you put your entire bank account and assets at risk. I hear people play open for the risk, right?

I think it's generally universally understood that the ganking aspect is what's driving people from open, so, that's where the largest penalty should lay. "There are consequences for your actions" is the oft repeated phrase, then, it should be so for them too. The punishment- a bounty to risk your assets, should match the crime, -you are doing damage for all open players.

  • This won't hurt legit piracy, as any good pirate can mitigate damage, disable the ship and swipe the cargo without killing the CMDR, and the occasional kill won't break the bank. (FDEV, tools to make that better please!)
  • Won't kill legit PVP because you can just turn 'report crimes off' and none of this matters, and even if the other guy flips theirs on, the opposing commander could get a warning of the status change pending. "Notice, target is attempting to call authorities, 30 seconds until transmission sent.",.. better pop that guy, get out, or accept the bounty, your choice.
  • Flying in a closer ship class to the ship you are attacking means the person being attack has a better opportunity to escape or retaliate, and not be insta-gib'ed, and thus, if you do kill them, you are on a level field so no breaking the bank. It's the difference in cost of the ships that gets multiplied.
But just sitting at a CG, and poping cargo ships left and right in one shot, just for kicks, (cowards) .... yea, now your in trouble, you got a bounty on your head so high the likes of which even God has never seen. And you'll have to pay it or go bankrupt. You can still do this, and you can spend your career trying to hide it, but you can't shed it, and eventually, you'll get careless, and boom, back in a freewinder with 1000 credits to your name.

I'd love to see a function in the game that allows everyone to see the star systems Notoriety rank 6 and above people are flying in their hot ships in... :cool:--- LET THE HUNT BEGIN ---:cool: Bounty Hunter is now a viable and exciting career choice! [haha]

Yes I was aware but I didn't want to go too far as I knew there was a contact in that station and also I wanted to see how it all worked...
 
I got the notoriety for a AI power play target kill.... if I manage to kill a human player I want a massive banner saying so....and they should get the notoriety for allowing such a bad pilot kill them! 😂
