Greetings CMDRs,
for many of you today is the day like any other. For me - it's a day of great importance. I'm not good at speeches so bare with me with this little ancient history. In 1795 three powers divided one country among themselves making that country to disappear from world's map. This situation remained unchanged for the next 123 years. Under foreign rule, under strict laws that prohibited cultivating cullture, language and beliefs - people of that country remained and survived. Dreaming about freedom and independence. Until one day it happened. After long 123 years of slavery and submission that country rised again, like phoenix from the ashes, and claimed their homeland for themselves. Once again that country was on the world's map. It was year 1918.
That country was Poland.
My country.
Today is a 100th anniversary of that day.
Standing today, in a country that is free and independent I would like to say" thank you". To all of you who help us, who supported us and to those who remembered us. This may be nothing form a random guy. But I'm aware that we weren't alone back then. We had allies and friends who stood with us and for us. In a day like this one can realize how important it is to have friends and allies. How peace and freedom isn't granted and sometimes you have to fight for that. In a day like this I see how petty are some quarrels and reasons behind.
I bet among families of you CMDRs there were people who made it possible. That I sit in my chair. In my home. Writing it. And playing this game. As a free and independent person. I'm a grown up man, with a family. And I'm crying. For I'm happy.
Because today we celebrate our Independence Day!
