Now I see one reason why they want space legs

😒 To "justify" all the obnoxious timers in the game. Instead of just sitting there twidling my thumbs for 15-30 minutes waiting for a transfer or something, I could be off doing other meaningful things in the station itself. I'd much rather they remove the timers entirely, but maybe they can make it pay off in odyssey by offering us other activities. And no, doing other missions while waiting for it to get there is not enough, not if its something I need transferred to do the mission to start with. They call these timers "realistic", I call it ridiculous and aggravating. Fingers crossed for Odyssey making this more than just a time waster, unlike Star Citizen, that dumpster fire of a game. 🤞

Maybe buying some circuit boards or components at a station and walk around plugging into your ship for more mods. Store some spare, for replacement in case it's damaged during combat :) Will have plenty of things to do along these..

Are station interiors confirmed now?

Thought it was pretty much a given at this point. I mean, we have the concept art for it already. They better give all these stupid timers a legitimate reason to exist. Hopefully, they were forward thinking about these timers, because whoever thought this was a good idea as its been used now needs to be punched hard in the gonads, like seriously. 🙃

 Perhaps, mechanics do have to actually order different parts from different manufactures for their ships so they can replace things, so maybe this is their plan. There will also likely be things to do related to the survival mechanics they plan on implementing in the game as well, like stocking up on food and water from those bars and stores we saw in the concept art.

There are plenty of things you can do while your other ship is in transit.

I have no issue with transit times as it facilitates some kind of management, which is severely lacking in the game.

The only limitations are your own.

Lol. So this thread is saying 'please remove any realism - ship stuff to me without delay - because gameplay'. And then we have this thread :

Saying - 'no - make the game more realistic', so presumably more delays (if we can even fly out of Sol without any physics-breaking travel).

Forums in full effect!

It was recently said in an interview that new players could start on the ground on foot, or in a ship (presumably in the usual starter stations). I was wondering if the concept art below actually represents widespread "taxi" services so we could move from ground installation - station - station - ground etc without buying our own ship. If that were true it could be these social locations etc could be on stations just as much as ground locations.

But who knows.

I just bet that these interiors which we can visit are only on planetary bases, but I hope I'm wrong.

I agree that there is currently far too much walking for no reason in SC and I hope frontier make the walking worthwhile.

I like the idea of being shipless tbh.

So if you could be doing mission work on foot and you are 'killed', [Insert technical sounding sci-fi name] device is activated that will respawn you back at your ship, that essentially functions as your 'lives'. You have to purchase/manufacture these devices, but if you run out and are killed you will respawn at nearest random station, shipless and practically creditless (Main Credits are stored in ship database). Then need to work your way back to any stored ships. Kind of like don't walk without respawn (Don't fly without rebuy)

I can't ever see it being implemented this way though. I think I would enjoy it, but probably be seen as tedious and a barrier to people playing the game their way.

A lot of the timers were added because the forums were up in arms about immersion and all that other crap.

😒 Ahh yes, there is that argument about "immersion" again. I have to sit here through these insufferable timers because of a few cry babies. The word "immersion" has become an over used word to excuse bad game design just like the word "realism" is used to excuse non-intuitive piles of kangaroo feces like Arma 3. What in the blue hell do these timers actually add to the gameplay beyond a waste of time? Does it add anything tangible? NO...so they at least need make it mean something in Odyssey.

Walking is only cool when it's short distances such as in a ship, station, at a base. For long distances need a vehicle.

Are station interiors confirmed now?

Hubs only according to artwork and interviews. Not the whole station.

Settlement interiors, to an uncertain extent, have been confirmed. But there's nothing confirming station interiors.

Yeah exactly. They HAVE to have special ground-based stations where you can spawn as a player on foot and at the very least be able to purchase a ship, but not necessarily all the existing ground structures, and less likely the existing space stations. I'd love to see everywhere explorable on foot, but you never know with FDev.

As in the hubs of existing space stations? That's brilliant news if so.
