NPC Combat Behavior against the Corsair Seems Different

Did NPC combat behavior change when I wasn't paying attention? Fighting in HazRes sites in the Corsair for the CG felt...weird. As if everything were moving slower than expected, not just the Corsair. NPCs were circling closer and slower. Getting behind them was easier, even vs more maneuverable ships. They spent less time on target; I had shields for days. They flew more straight lines, letting me line up PA shots with relative ease. Coupled with the Corsair's relatively quiet engines, combat seemed downright casual. Am I going crazy or having an off day, or is anyone else noticing a change in the way NPC pirates fight?

I was there yesterday with Shock Cann. Pmk2 and had somewhat similar feeling. I did write-off that to low-ranked pirates since usually I'm not able to chase and outturn iEagle, especially with just one pip on engines.

Later in another system while being inspired by domination in that CG RESs I took a fight with wings of 3 Deadly F<something>S and got my 6 kicked hard, so I believe if not behaviour of every NPC in game, just particular CG, if any change is there at all.

On reflection and reading comments in other threads, it might just be that the Corsair's vertical thrust makes vertically-assisted turns dramatically more effective than other ships, and so the whole fight feels different, especially on top of the eerie quiet.

Yes, and that it‘s why the Corsair feels good when playing with a controller, because you naturally use both sticks.

I noticed that as well last night, none of the NPCs could go anywhere, I was constantly hugging their top or rear. I just chalked it to me using the nimble Python 2 instead of the Vette that I usually use for these things.

Hehe! I had a sniff around the CG system Haz Res, 3 C3 PA & 3 C2 Beams, 640 MJ of shields.
Spent a happy half hour getting the feel of the ship. Yes, it has good vertical thrusters, yes, it is very stable for fixed weapons, and a bigger yes that it is fun to fly.
Small shield can come back up in 65 seconds and recover 1 segment every 2 seconds, lost it raming an Anaconda, regained it as I finished the Annie off. (I lost 20% hull in the meantime)
I can see the Corsair being a very fun daily driver!
