Newcomer / Intro NPC Crew Fees

Hi together,

I'm a returner after some years and for sure theres a lot of new stuff. Since I'm plannig a long expedition I was wondering how does it work with crew fees (hired NPC)? It is stated, that they take like 10% of all your income, but when does this happen?

E.g. Lets assume I am collecting expedition data for 10M whilst having a hired NPC on board that takes 10%. Will my data be only "worth" 9M or can I avoid the fee by firing the NPC before selling the data and receiving the whole 10M?

And excuse the offtopic question on top, but can I find exobiology-sites anywhere in the galaxy, or only in the bubble?

The NPC crew take a cut of all income you make, when you make it.

So yes, you can fire the crew before selling or doing anything else to make credits, and you will get the full amount.

As for exobiology, it's everywhere, and it's also more profitable for undiscovered stuff, so outside the bubble is actually better (money-wise, and scenery wise :) )

In addition to all the new biologicals you can scan the old stuff like Bark Mounds and Brain Trees to sell to the nice people in Vista.

As far as the NPCs go their cut depends on their rank when you hired them and their current rank, but of course if you are going to hire and fire them then they won’t be ranking up.
All cash payments to them happen if they are active in your ship or not however if they are active and you win some fights they will take half your XP points while they rank up, so you combat ranking will go at half speed while they are active.
