NPC Crew: What is the share of profits from trading?

Hello,

I've trained an NPC crew member from harmless to expert so her share of bounties is currently 6% and that's fine.

The wierd thing I'm seeing is that when I do some trading on the side she gets a cut of the trading which is actually greater then 50% of the profit instead of the expected 6%. I'll get before and after screenshots next time and post them to illustrate.

Has anyone else seen this? Can anyone explain this or share where this is explained?

Thanks

They'll get their % (in this case 6%) of the overall sale price. If your profit margin is less than 6% of the total value of the goods then you'll make a loss. I'm not totally on board with that to be honest.

The reasoning is that they are protecting the trade ship in flight. Again I don't 100% agree especially on the inactive thing

To be honest I find the whole crew cut thing a bit disappointing especially how it's identical for active/shore-leave. For a long time I've just hired and fired expert crew who never got a penny besides their hiring fee. I now have a nearly Elite pilot from harmless and I was planning to get 3 in total but honestly I'm not sure it's going to be worth it with multi-crew offering a better pilot for zero loss in profit..
I definitely don't see how its a viable choice for people who are still at Keelback/FGS level and looking to get the cash together for the biggest ships.

I hadn't thought of the hiring and firing before turning in bounties. Does that actually cut them out of all of the profits? That's really exploitative, and really funny!

My NPC pilot has done well in the last three weeks to the tune of around four million cr. Maybe it's time for her to be back on her own!

From my testing it does but the extra process can be irritating. The upside is fresh pilot each time with different voice etc. In general I'd save about 5-10mil bounties up then fire them, cash in and pick a new one up.
The biggest win is exploration, go on the trip, get the data, fire and sell.
Trading I see as the least fun with crew-swapping, gotta be done every time you dock so may as well just remove the fighter hangar and swap it for an SCB or Hull package.

Your sure about that? Overall SALE price, not the PROFIT ?!

From ALL your PROFITS, doesn't matter what, but only when he/she is still around, so hiring before cashing in means nada for your ex...
But I myself keep my girls, two are Elite now, and trust me, that IS a difference especially against Dangerous and above enemies...

Hah! Then I see all these whining all over the board of too less money making....

My girls have made now together 1.351 BILLION credits! since November(?)! I remember, there I even didn't had so much money myself in assets.... haha.... yeah, lately I play a bit much I think...

Yes its from total sale price.

oh... I haven't done any trading lately...... you need to make more than 30% profit to even have a profit in trading?!
that must be a bug...
I remember doing slave bulk transports in imperial space, around 13000cr buying and 16000cr selling (net 3000cr profit) but that would mean 30% of 16000cr for npcs (asuming all three elite), that is 4800cr for npcs and you having negative (-1800cr) profit.
No, I can't see that. Must be a bug.
