NPC Quest Givers - Negotiations

It's unfortunate that when successful in a negotiation the rewards can change. A negotiation should increase the offered rewards.

Real in-game example:
Quest "Kill so and so"
Reward 1: 100k credits
Reward 2: ++Rep
Reward 3: 4 materials (I need 5 to get my next upgrade)
Start negotiations > Success!
New Reward 1: 200k credits
New Reward 2: 200k credits... again?
New Reward 3: ++Influence. (what happened to the mats?)

Great, so the materials I wanted 5 of and so negotiated for are now not even an option... and there's a duplicate option for 200k credits now, why?
WTH sense does that make?

It is a bug .. sadly. Happened to me today once too. This bug is not tied it seems to concrete material reward, but more specifically to some type of offers. Not sure about this. .. and in issuestracker I found two reports about this, both expired.

Just a question - would it make more sense to choose a reward before negotiation and accepting mission?

This could potentially open some more opportunities:
  • get different completion timers, e.g. if choosing influence - until next BGS tick, if credits/reputation - 3 days or even a week
  • choosing materials reward would lead to greater increase of materials and possibly decrease of credits part (potentially down to 0) as part of following negotiation

Also would be nice if negotiation could lead to adding some extra objectives. Like you ask for more credits for killing known terrorist, then find in addition a cache of commodities stored on the surface. So having 3 new options with reward after negotiation you may choose to complete just base goal (small increase to reward), base goal + one extra (medium increase) and base + 2-4 extra (significant increase).

There could be one fake/impossible variant added to new reward variants - like a joke in dialog option - and player would need to recognize it won't work and not choose it. And if they did choose - the negotiation is aborted and some reputation lost.

At this point I'd settle for it working properly as is, but the entire negotiation system is pretty shallow and the RNG is too high. (Max rep and a catastrophic failure on the easiest negotiation? Gimme a break...)

They really need to allow proper negotiation. Sure, I want to help you fix your settlement, but not for Radioactivity Data I can pick up in any PWR building I go to.

Maybe give us extra options like "I'm working on suit upgrades - what can you offer me?", "I'm working on weapon upgrades - what can you offer me?", or as an added bonus "I'm unlocking engineers, can you help with that?"

At least then you'd have maybe a 1:5 chance of something worthwhile rather than 10 visits to concourses before they'll offer you a couple of PR (and then the negotiation fails and they tell you to go away)

Negotiations in a nutshell

NPC - "Here are the possible rewards"
Me - "I will need much more than what you offer"
NPC - "Get away, then, it's take it or leave it"
ME - "OK, not a job for me, bye"
NPC - "Are you sure I can't convince you otherwise?"

Missing facepalm emote! 😆

Yeah, this definitely sounds like a bug.

I haven't done one in a while, but every time i did negotiate previously, the rewards were the same, just bigger.
