Bought an anny fitted fighter bay have a pilot and am now farming asteriods planets etc for mats question is can you deploy npc fighter before landing on a planet and carry on using the SRV to farm for mats or is this not possible .

No, this isn't possible. We are not yet able to have a SLF & SRV deployed at the same time. IIRC, the minimum altitude for the to SLF launch is above 500m. Anything below that it's not possible. You also cannot land with an SLF deployed, as the SLF would be unable to re-dock with it's host ship. Also the landing gear and cargo hatch would obstruct on many of the ship types.
Also is it possible to deploy fighter when gathering guardian tech to act as cover against skimmers. Also a good place res site type nav beacons to rank them up etc. I am still learning all the time so would appreciate any help advice etc please .
For the guardian sites anything larger than an ASP Explorer won't be able to land nearby. Best practice is to have a point defence or two fitted and active, which will help out with the sentinels. The closer to the top front of the hull the better. If your ship is not landed nearby the PD won't be able to offer cover. Their range is 2km, IIRC. There are many guides out there.
