Horizons NPC ships seem OP to me

I think, on their own, they tend to be fairly tough but not unbeatable. But I've been triple and quadruple teamed in the past couple of days and I'm finished in minutes..

That's why there's this thing called "threat #" displayed next to the signal source... if you cannot handle the threat, do not go in.

We should point out that the Threat Level displayed is your ship's assessment, and can be wrong. I've dropped into Threat 0 USS's before, and had a bunch of pirates jump me while saying "I can't believe he fell for it!"

So they can be traps. Just sayin'. It's not a sure thing, that Threat level you see.

Okay, you want proof? I just did a quick search on Youtube and found this.

Proof enough that there's something wrong? Granted, this may not be everyone's experience, and is probably a bug, but it does show that bugs like this do exist and aren't all our imagination. Again, I'm not saying "nerf the AI!111oneoneone!1!", I'm just saying: look into it. When something can wipe out a python's hull in less than a second like that, something's not right.

You are 'not so polite world here', that video dated 26 May, when bugged AI exist, FD admitted an fixed it already.

^ Yea - what he said. They've already fixed that bug then nerfed the AI further from the 2.1 release. What more do you all want, they've already made the AI too easy for me.

, you have hardly played the game. Once you become a good pilot, which comes with time, the NPC's are boring as hell, they are no different then 2.0. People already cried and got them nerfed from the glorious 2.1 state where it was a challenge and not a point and click adventure game.

I don't want weaker AI, I just want them to follow the same rules as we do.
If an NPC can spam 4 SCB without using an heat sink (and without taking any damage) I am       . Anyway I agree that we should have a smarter AI.

I totally agree. After I came back from some inactivity I got literally reckt. NPCs are way too good imho. Especially in CZ: if you get targeted by 2 or 3 ships you almost have no time to escape.

I'm anything but an accomplished pilot -- and the AI does not present that much of a problem to me. Right now, my combat rank is Master, and I am grazing in RES (preferably hazardous or high). So far, I've been destroyed exactly once, and that was my own fault (attempting to flee from an Elite FAS with almost no shields . . . I was insta-killed with PA shots, at least I think that was it).

I'm not a hardcore gamer, my reflexes suck, and yet I manage to more than hold my own. The trick is to choose engagements wisely. In CZs, stick to the edge, and make sure there are lots of friendlies. You also must watch out for the enemy's skill level. Deadly and Elite have modded items on board, making them somewhat tougher.

Forgive me if I appear to be boasting (I am not; matter of fact, I am convinced 90% of the commanders here would kick my butt so hard I'd be wearing it around my neck afterwards), but I find the AI not that much of a challenge -- it all depends on the equipment, of course (Fer-de-Lance, A-rated, 5 heavy-duty shield boosters, reinforced shield (5 Bi-Weave), 4 Class 2 pulse lasers (efficient, with some side effects), one huge MC (all weapons gimballed, with engineering upgrades to other equipment, as well, but mostly level 3 or level 1).

NPC like to gang gank players. And with their equipment, spawning mechanics and improved AI this can kinda suck. I really dislike the lemming aggro in CZ - pretty pointless now without a wing imo.
I used to do more combat before - now it's mostly running when I do missions, ignoring combat zones and concentrate on planetary stuff.

Agree.. I'm doing the same thing
