NPC's and their chatter. Random or not random?

It's not that I'm hearing voices or anything, I do take my meds for that. And it's not voices anyway, just text.

Call me paranoid if you wish but it's just that I keep getting the impression that the game by way of the same old NPC chat dialogues is trying to tell me something.

Should I just ignore them? (And keep taking the medication).

Or is it wise to read them, and take note?

What are your thoughts?

If you read them, you get a heads up every time some filthy pirate is trying to feed their kids.
No, not those messages. Those warnings usually result in an interdiction only about 10% of the time. Far less I would assume if a player is new, and still low in rank. It's the stuff when you're in a station either docked or entering/leaving that keep appearing to be trying to throw me off my current goal. Almost as if they are trying to demorolise me or something. Probably just me being paranoid really, and I should ignore it. But the real matrix in this world does give us all hints and tips about real things sometimes. Although not everyone can read them, nor do they often need to, it can sometimes just subliminally effect us without us needing to be concious if it.

Ignore the messages, most of them are either a trap or an attempt to divert you.
The only ones to pay attention to are the ones like I am surprised you made it this far, which are to let you know it is time to SCO or switch to combat mode.

As for the meds stick to the good ones.

On a more serious note, I have the impression that NPC messages in the local chat probably depend in on way or another on the current state of the system.

With some messages it's very clear and obvious, particularly when the system is in a "war", "civil war" or "civil unrest" state. I haven't really paid much attention if and how other system states affect the NPC chatter, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does (for example do certain system states give you more "this liner is in the top 1% of all liners out there" chatter?)
