Hardware & Technical NVidia 1070 - How to record last X minutes?

OK... I'm simply trying to set this up so I can press a key and dump the last X minutes of footage.

In shadow play it seems to drop not 5 minutes (as defined) but a random amount of time as if from the last SC entry/exit?

Using Windows 10 DVR, the option seems to do nothing. No message nothing?

In both I can happily manually start/stop recording!?

I'm not sure to get your question right.

So I'll talk about Nvidia Share, which is the new name for the Shadowplay.

- If you want to just start a recording with the Nvidia Share there's a bind for this (same bind to begin and stop -> save file)
- If you want to record something that already happened when you weren't actually recording, there's also a Nvidia Share bind (save the last X minutes of gameplay, you can set the amount of minutes it's going back to in the Share settings)

I don't know about the windows 10 thing, it was taking too much of my ram and wasnt really responsive..

If you do Alt-Z, up comes Nvidias options (in the game). The (main) left one is to enable "Instant Replay" or the like, and the right one is to start/stop recording (ALT-F9).

Manual recording is working fine...

Now where I'm having trouble is getting the dumping of the last 5 minutes of footage to work (ALT-10).

Do I need to be recording at the time? Do I need the "Instant Replay" enabled?

I've fiddled around with these two and the best I can get is when I do an ALT-F10 it saves seemingly random amounts of footage. eg: 9s.

Yes. You need Instant Replay enabled. Configure the length of the recording and it will constantly record in the background. The key bind saves whatever is in the current recording 'buffer'.

Well, I tried that... And Alt-F10 was saving random lengths. eg: I had a fight and then jumped into SC and press alt-F10. 3s was saved...

If you press alt-F10 1 minute apart, with both save 5mins? Or will the first save 5mins and the second then 1min?

I can't say for sure what pressing Alt-F10 multiple times does. I'd have to test it again. I think the second time should record from the point you last saved to.

Don't know why you aren't getting more than a few seconds of save, though. Have you tried playing with different settings (length of recording, quality) to see if that makes any difference? It's always just worked for me.

I think you'll need to change your Shadowplay key binds - remember that F10 is used in game for screenshots, and Alt-F10 does the hi-res resource hog mega-screenshot, this could potentially be interfering with the Shadowplay process!

(You may need to temporarily disable the instant-replay recording in order to access the settings menu)

I don't think this is the problem. The Game client only captures keystrokes when it is focused. Shadowplay/Share bindings are system hotkeys. They may conflict with other apps that have taken the same bindings first (although, you'd probably/hopefully get an error message when setting the bind). It will override anything in the game, though. I actually changed my Share bindings to Ctrl-Alt versions so that I could get the in-game screen capture back if I wanted it.

Hmm. Well, I'm not so sure; it is because of Elite that I moved the Shadowplay bindings off the F10 key because it was causing me problems. That was two years ago though, no idea if things have changed since (other than the new "Share" is a bag of poop compared to the old Shadowplay!).

Gotta be worth a try though, right?

Good call! Didn't even think of that!

I'll bind them to the same keys as Window 10s DVR (which will be turned off of course)... and give that a go.

To clarify, if you press your key and after 1min you press it again you will have 2 clips of 5min, the difference will be the moment at which they each begin: the second one begins 1 minute after the first one.

Mine was deinately not doing that. I'm hoping it's clashing with ED's ALT-F10 functionality. I'll rebind the keys.

Nvidia share or OBS can both do it quite easily.
