Hardware & Technical Nvidia 347.09 thread

Ha ha, I literally installed 344.75 two hours ago... Here we go again. Downloading on my slow-ish DSL. Hopefully there will be a performance boost when running in 4K resolution. It slows down to a crawl inside space stations, even on a GTX 780 and I thought the game just isn't optimized very well.

Yep not official but Elite: Dangerous is now listed as Game Ready with them so maybe some people will test to see if there's any performance increase.

I don't normally use Beta drivers but I'm tempted. ;)

Excellent news, be good to hear back from anybody who's tried it. fwiw my setup has been a lot more stable since gamma 2.06 and release, but I still get the occasional crash due, I think, to something in the graphics driver.

This has some interesting information ... including

Diving into the release notes uncovers a few additional tidbits. Apparently, Nvidia has added new application profile for Project CARS as well as new 3D Vision and 3D Compatibility Mode profiles for a handful of games, including Alien: Isolation, Far Cry 4, and Elite: Dangerous

What does that mean - better Oculus Rift support or another 3D mode for flat screens? Any ideas?

Downloading now - fingers crossed.

See you out there

Sweet 3Dvision will try that :)

OK, uninstalled the old drivers, did a clean install of the new ones. Performance is still a total pig in 4K, and that on a 4.2GHz quad core i5, a GTX 780 and 16GB RAM. Not good.

Guess I'll have to stick to 1080p. Which I normally don't mind, but the glaring omission of MSAA anti-aliasing in this game makes 1080p look pixelated as hell. The AA methods provided do virtually nothing :(

Please, please, please add MSAA!

But MSAA is essentially just scaling the resolution and then downsampling anyway. Plus, you do realize that a single 780 driving the equivalent of 4 1080p screens is a huge amount of work, right? If you looks at single card benchmarks on a single 780 at 4k you gen near unplayable frame rates in almost every game.

Game runs smooth for me with the old official drivers, and the new beta driver. (only running 1920x1080, GTX980)

ED isnt popping up in the Games tab in the Gforce Experience though (added path didnt make it turn up either).

Do not use it if you have DK2 setup - this is not working properly (showing you two stereo images in DK2)

I'm not sure if this is a driver issue. Every once in awhile when I launch Elite, normally after an update, it will do this. The only solution I have found so far was to select my main monitor, with 3d off. Apply the changs, exit/save, enter the game, and setup the rift as the 4th monitor / Oculus (headphones) for the 3d. That usually fixes it.

Well tried the new drivers on a GTX 970 - 16gb ram on a 1920x1080 monitor no more jaggies!! smooth as butter

So jealous of how you managed to get the game to turn up in the list lol :)

Edit: removed and added the c:\program files(x86) path, and it identified ED.
And bloody hell it looks gorgeous on recommended settings! (3840x2160 downscaled to 1920x1080)
