General Nvidia DLSS / AMD FSR 3.0 Implementation

I think a great counter to the lack of optimisation would be to add better upscaling support such as AMD FSR 3.0 or DLSS. Elite Dangerous already has FSR, but it's only 1.0, which isn't good at all. DLSS isn't nescessary, as FSR can be run on any GPU, but it would be a great improvement for Nvidia users. Seeing as Frontier already managed to implement FSR 1.0, 3.0 shouldn't be much of an issue in my opinion. What do you think?

Wouldn't that (DLSS) require a rewrite of the graphic engine-thingy stuff? I could well be barking...

Or does it just take existing graphics and zhuzh 'em up a bit?

From previous discussions it would be a bit of work to implement.

Although really, FSR and DLSS are really meant to give a performance boost to lower specced PCs for an extra bit of zip at the cost of graphics quality. What it isn't meant to be is a replacement for optimising a game in the first place.

OP this turns up a lot in the Odyssey Discussions forum where I recall those more knowledgeable than me say it would be a major rewrite as something the newer generations of these tools need isn’t provided by the games software.

Yeah, basically FSR 1.0 leverages stuff already existing in the game engine so it was easy to implement, further iterations would require some rewriting of the game engine to make the necessary changes that higher levels of FSR require, so not trivial at all. There is a rather in depth discussion about the problems involved elsewhere on the forum, maybe that would be a good place for the OP to start.

What's most frustrating is that none of the developers can come here in a thread on the forum and write in detail why the game still doesn't have dlss and normal anti-aliasing.

Or at least talk about it on frontier unlocked. But no, they will remain silent. Apparently the reason is too embarrassing to talk about.

We want Nvidia DLSS / AMD FSR 3.0 Implementation , like read dead redemption 2 is clean and light

Yeah, and RDR2 was released the same year Nvidia released the first DLSS capable cards, so with development and release timing for these things it's likely they had the tech specs and requirements when they were developing the game so they could include that as part of the base engine development, FDEV didn't have that benefit, so let's not compare games that were developed for existing hardware with games that were developed before that hardware was even a dream.
