Got an Oculus Rift for XMAS and after 2 days I took it back to Best Buy. Really was looking forward to playing ED and Xplane but a word of caution to those that are thinking of buying a VR setup, try one first.
Problems I encountered.
You cannot adjust visual acuity to each lens so you are stuck with what it is, they say (not sure who) that you can wear glasses but that is fiction unless you want to take a chance on damaging the lens by scratching them.
You cannot see out under them if you need to reacquire controls.
The video quality to me was poor when I could get them to comfortable enough and aligned to see. Reminded me of the old VGA monitors.
VR controls are sketchy at best, if you are playing ED you cannot control the ship just the way you thought you could and if you decide you want to control things with you joy stick better get real good at knowing all you controls by touch and feel.
Bottom Line - If your expecting Ready Player One quality, not there yet! May be one day but not now. I wound up with a headache every time I tried to play and I am a retired Apache pilot that flew monochrome green right eye at night 50 feet off the deck and doing 100 knots. I am not saying not to buy, but find someone or some place that will let you try them out on the game you want to play. So its me and TrackIR for a little bit longer until my guess is 2 more generations have evolved.
