OA's latest on future story.

There is a very low “Galaxy Explored” number that usually gets trotted out on threads like this, even if you are sceptical of the number and double it it’s still a small % so if FDEV where to tuck something away to be discovered chances are if it’s way out in the black it won’t be discovered.
Why 'tuck something away'? Why not a civilization on the same scale as the human one? Why not a sphere 2,000 LY across with an increasing chance of encountering something interesting and/or dangerous as you get closer to the center? Ruins on a couple of dozen planets out of 400 billion is ridiculous, but that's all that FDev have thought to give us.

You guys do realize that developing aliens and alien civilizations is bound to take a lot of developer time?

I hope we can look forwards to on foot Thargoids, and who knows maybe Guardian on foot content and possibly encountering live ones. I'm really not sure that being shot down by some unknown alien ship tens of thousands of LY from home would add much to the exploration game, and if they stuck those aliens in, they'd have to develop a third alien species with all that this entitles..

Well it's only artwork and assets - which they had enough manpower spare for to do FC interiors, so that's not a significant hurdle

It'll add a lot more than we currently have - it's not like cataloging ELWs has any particular point to it.
Also, as has been said a number of times before in this thread, there are a LOT of things FDev can do to make exploration more exciting/risky than simply adding combat to it, and those other things are mostly what we're asking for.

Finally, if you don't want to fight aliens or have any risk introduced into your exploration gameplay, DON'T GO TO THE PLACES WHERE THE RISK IS!

Personally I'm not averse to risk (nor combat), and presumably we wouldn't know what areas to avoid..

I'd imagine that getting caught in the blast of a supernova and having modules degraded could be a good game loop. But this would presume that you didn't make your homework when plotting your route, or that you actually go looking for it. Even in the Milkyway they aren't an hourly occurrence.

I think I mentioned environmental dangers in a past post, things like crumbling ground, quick sand, rock falls, avalanches, but this would mean much more work on the environment, and I'm not sure we are getting that any time soon..

Imagine to walk on an ice world and the ground breaks under your feet. You fall down and lose health, then you find some alien artifacts, and need 3 hours to find a way back to your ship.
