O'Brian Class Battle Cruisers

Some passengers tell us they served on O'Brian Class Battlecruisers not too long ago.
Apparently these things are still around.

I really would love to see machines like that flying around in the game.
I don't need to pilot them. I just want these things to be there to help the universe come alive, add variation, add stuff to gawk at.
I love to gawk.

Seeing some old hulks restored would create some good variety, particularly if they aren't used exclusively for combat like the modern Farraguts. They would likely require some CGs for their refitting, with a particular focus on internal components as the hulls are already made. Likewise, there's nothing stopping the Federation using stripped down obsolete ships as bulk transports, station constructors (useful for "build an outpost" CGs!) or even kitting them out to use as carriers and mobile bases rather than frontline ships.

I approve this message.

For me I see these ships turning up inside the alliance or independent areas, history is full of lesser powers using older discarded weaponry and ships to bolster their own fleets and forces. Who's to say when the older battle fleets were sent for reclamation one or two of the big girls 'failed' to make it to the scrap yard instead they found a new home within the alliance.

Why wouldn't the Federation go and destroy it. Tuff like that would most likely end up being scuttled or used for training and or target practice.

Use your imagination misappropriated/stolen battleships would make great back drop stories, even tales of lost ships found a drift by pirate's (like the last post suggests) and used as a base etc fill out the universe. In our time plenty of warships have been sold off to lesser navies from the big ones either for use or to be scrapped but like I said who's to say they made it to the scrap yard it's a BIG galaxy u can hide a lot of stuff in it

That is an excellent idea.
It would be cool to see a pirate base in the game situated in a huge old dreadnaught with all kinds of bits and pieces build on to it.
I would go there just to see it.

Ahhhhh but could u find it? Mayb it's drives are still functional and it moves from system to system depending where the 'prey' is taking its band of cut throats right to the jugular before jumping away to escape the law. It could even make an appearance at CGs or be part of new passenger mission your 'job' being to track it down and infiltrate a agent or return an escaped pirate. Our galaxy runeth over with possibilities
