Obsidian, setup a patreon account mate. Your production skills are quite good and your content is enjoyed by thousands. I am sure there are many people who would send a coin or two your way each month to assist you in continuing to entertain us. It would also act as a safeguard against future failures.

I need a new Gaming Rig, anyone care to donate?
If so, I'll post you my sort code and acc. number.... cheers in advance.

I know this is in jest, but seriously, don't...

and on that bombshell

I do love Clarkson.

Ok, this thread got a bit heated last night and I'm glad to see it's calmed down now.

So not everyone agrees with the donations given here but as far as I can see OA didn't actively promote his donate page but was brought to wider attention to another forum member.

As I mentioned before, I believe the community we have built up here is something quite special and the generosity shown by some shouldn't be knocked by others who disagree.

I myself a long time ago gave some spare parts I had knocking about to another forum member (I can't actually remember who it was now...) I didn't ask anything for it and was happy to help. The lovely Geraldine who was part of the mod team kindly gave me a motherboard when I needed one which was greatly appreciated at the time.

It's nice when people help one another with no ulterior motive.

Oh, if anyone has a Ferrari 250 gt California going spare I can assure you I would look after it very well ;).

Thank you so much everyone for all of your help it has been totally amazing! I have just updated the video description with the following details - but also wanted to post that same text here. This is such a wonderful community, and everyone is so awesome! Also I understand where people are coming from who didn't support my request, I won't dwell on those points though other than to say, YouTuber's really don't make very much money...and whilst I also run my own business, the budget has been very, very tight. Once again, my thanks to everyone and it's great to see that so many people understand that my videos are driven by an immense passion for both the game and the community.

Below is the updated text I place in the video description:

Wow! Well what can I say!? I went to bed last night with enough for a GPU and part of a new PC, and as of now I have enough to replace the whole setup! Thank you so, so much - the support has been overwhelming, and has left me at a loss for words. I want to thank each and everyone of you for all the help, offers, donations and kind words.

Making this video was very difficult for me, as I am not one to ask for money - or in fact ask for anything. I do have a little tiny PayPal donate link at the top of my channel, but I have never once pointed it out, or asked for money. However on this occasion though I was faced with the situation of having to stop producing videos for the foreseeable future. Now that is no longer the case - and I will be back up and running very fast. As I mentioned yesterday, I have a bit of footage left that I was recording over the weekend, and I will be able to use that to make a video for later this week. I also have stock footage for info videos. All of those I will be putting together on my laptop, which isn't that suited to the task (and certainly no where near capable of capturing game footage). With the new PC I will be back to video production before the end of the week I hope.

I have now removed the donation link from this video. I will be uploading a video later today, just to express my thanks! Once again, thank you everyone for all of your help! You are all wonderful! :)

Good news ! And the adventure continues !

Just a note to any FD staff browsing this.

Obsidian is awesome. Everyone likes the guy. After all we named a station in his honour.

He has been great PR for you guys. So, following on to the natural conclusion... why not offer him a job?
Maybe its just "one of those times" in his business where things are quiet or he is trying to expand a little. I don't know, but with talent like his im sure he will get along fine without help.

I certainly don't speak for him. But...

Good god the man has a vision and passion that I rather selfishly want integrated into this game!
Always scratched my head a little over this.

We'll see 4k videos soon, right? ;)

Glad the donations went well and above your expectations. We do enjoy your videos! :)

Aww, :( quick everyone let's get enough together for Brett's 80 Mbps connection ;)

Hah, getting the local landline ISP's around here in this area of the states to do anything is like watching a paint bucket rust and ooze out over time.....

My phones LTE signal can do 120mbps! DSL vs LTE logic right? 900meter DSL loop - 10mbps... a 3km line of sight LTE tower to my cell phone... 120mbps. I try to not use my cell providers bandwidth all that much. :D

But then he wouldn't be able to remain impartial. And what's wrong with the way things are now? OA is a nice bloke with a very nice voice (if anything, a career in radio would make more sense, no?) who creates entertaining videos about a game he enjoys. He could, as someone else suggested, set up a Patreon account so fans can support him financially if they wish to. But he doesn't need (nor, I suspect, given his modesty, would he want) to be put on a pedestal.
