It is? Wow,maybe the game is not that dead afterall
No, we won't know what they are doing until activity starts showing in steam which won't happen until closer to release of a DLC. But something is happening in steam. It appears that Planet Coaster is being updated, if you look under depots under branches you will see dev_release and dev_final which were updated 4 days ago. Also, look under history. Over the past two months there were changes to the changenumber https://steamdb.info/app/493340/history/ I don't know if this means they are working on anything.

Thank you so much for doing these livestreams in the past 3 1/2 years, Bo, Chanté, Steggs, Will, Paige, and all of the wonderful developers and other staff working at Frontier. I have enjoyed every second of the streams. Of course also a big thank you to the community managers behind the scenes, such as Paul, and formerly Zac (Head of Community Management during the early days) and former CM's Ed and Brett. ❤
Last but not least a massive thank you to all of the individual community members for collectively making the Planet Coaster community (and now also the Planet Zoo and JWE) communities one of the best communities ever. It has been absolutely amazing to be part of it, and I look forward to continue to be part of the community for many years to come. ❤

Planet Coaster now ran over 3 years almost every Wednesday on YouTube. So if we expect 3 more years for Planet Zoo, then we know in something when PlanCo 2 will be released.
Planet Coaster will still be streamed to YouTube, Mixer and Twitch during our Tuesday 12PM UTC slot! We have been doing this for a few months now, all of the recent Tuesday streams are available to watch back on YouTube.
