uninstall and reinstall worked but now I have to wait until oculus deploys the hotfix...
Oculus 2.4 Update Issues?

Tried updating via oculus, get virus blocked install error (no virus scanner or firewall enabled).
Tried uninstall, reinstall and when starting ED Commander says it's requires an update.
So bust for me.
Today (28/09) it's downloading an update so lets see what happens...

Yeah, even after re-installing you'll still be at 2.3. You'll have to let it install the update to get 2.4. That should work without problems though.
No, it's at 2.4, frontier deployed a hotfix so the game now needs to be at 2.4.01 which isn't deployed yet on oculus.
edit: just deployed it seems, installing now.
Uninstall/Reinstall doesn't delete progress/ships, correct?
Am having the same problem with the 2.4 update, but before I try this solution, I wanna make sure I'm losing all my progress and ships. I asked the Oculus support people, but all they gave me was a generic link back to the Frontier Elite Dangerous Home Page. For those of you who uninstalled, was your any of your progress lost?

Yep, 2.4.01 still hanging at 97% installation and aborting. One would expect Oculus to work a little faster on a fix when one of their most expensive games won't even play for two days.
I don't want to risk losing my keybinds and custom graphics settings to a reinstall. Guess I'll see if they can get their act together tomorrow.

2.4.1 update on oculus seems to work.
However I didn't see it as an update option. It just installed automatically.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my games, new windows etc. enough times to be able to confirm this wholeheartedly.
actually the 2.4.01 update kicked in by itself around 1am Paris time,
I did not do anything special for this,
sounds like there were several download attempts of the complete game files before getting to this...
we need a proper procedure to follow as we might expect numerous patch to come in the near future!
I did not lose anything after the uninstall/reinstall procedure,
even my key binds were restored properly,
done twice already.
I had to reinstall for 2.4 but, thankfully, not for 2.4.01 (although the download much longer than it should've). Nobody should be afraid to reinstall, especially if it gets the game working again. Back up your custom.binds file and your graphicsconfiguration.xml and you'll be good to go.

*tents fingers* Excellent. I'm getting sick of experiencing 2.4 via Youtube.
This is killing me. 5 times Oculus Home has downloaded the update to 100%, and then installed to 100%, but it never completes. As it never completes I can't get the option to uninstall and thanks to my noob PC gamer skills I can't find the install files to delete them.
