Oculus Rift General Discussion and OR Games to try out Thread

assetto and ED are tops.

assetto is worth every penny, you just missed a 50% sale too.

as for the setup, its easy. Its just you have to set primary for assetto and secondary for ED. so the switching is annoying. Virtual desktop and that other switching app help with these issues.

assetto really shines with the controllers and peripherals. the buttkickers+a good weel really make a true experience.

Alien Isolation... holy ..... ! Wow! Your "manhood" will be in question on this one. Awesome VR experience with gorgeous graphics and sound ( always use headphones when doing VR ) !! I am a huge fan of the Alien movies and I have to admit, to finally be able to walk around the Nostromo and LV-426 crash site ( and other places ) well.... Simply put, a dream come true!

I'm not a big fan of racing games so ill think ill sit out on assetto. Alien isolation sounds amazing tho, think ill give that a try. Currently I'm trying to get Fallout New Vegas to work with Vorpx, having some FOV issues tho.

oh man any fallout would be awesome!

im not sure if its just me or maybe FPS but anything where im using a keyboard/mouse makes me want to vomit...

but ED and assetto i can play all day in VR...

or maybe cause i was new to VR when i tried Alien...i must visit it again.

I've not played any game other than Elite since its release. I got a copy of Borderlands 2 that I have touched yet. I wouldn't mind seeing that in VR-o-Vision but I don't have Vorpx. I still have my copy of TriDef-3D that I used for stereoscopic playing a few years back, and I heard they are experimenting with VR retrofitting. Does anyone have any experience with using TriDef-3D VR options? Should I jump ship and install Vorpx instead?

I can certainly recommend Assetto Corsa, however the flicking between the rift and your monitor for the menus is a pain but once the racing starts it works very well indeed, I have tried Alien Isolation on a friends pc and tbh i found it quite nauseating after 10 mins or so.

Same with Dying Light although it's interesting to give it try as when your high up on top of the buildings/cranes looking down gives a great sense of height, but again can get a little nauseating after a while

Some of Assetto Corsa's limitations are too much for me. They don't even have an Oculus orientation reset button. I wasn't able to get the game in a state where it wouldn't make me sick

Alien Isolation anyway. Currently playing the second time in the rift - that are currently the best oculus implementations ever (AI and ED). Usually i do not play games several times - but AI is different, mainly because you are busy to stay alife permanently and oversee much very pretty details :)

Star Conflict is a PvP space shooter that looks quite good on DK2 on first look.

As others have already mentioned, Alien Isolation is an extremely intense game. I acutally played half the storyline on monitor before I felt brave enough to try it in the Rift. There are some minor issues with the Rift support in this game but still I would rate it as one of the best games with DK2 support out there.

The VR support in Alien Isolation is, sadly, half finished. Its tendency to skew can be really distracting- I so wish it was an officially supported feature that got fixes. Also, cut scenes are somewhat odd.

Don't let a slightly half-baked VR implementation put you off though- it's an excellent game, even out of VR.

No you dont need vorpx drivers for AI! Just a very simple editing of a file and pausing the oculus service.

I concur with all of the above regarding Alien Isolation: looks fantastic in the dk2 and fairly easy to get running. I'm able to run it on medium with most other effects on and i dont get any judder. Of course i get the skewed view and have to reset a lot of the time (both bumper buttons on xbox controller|). Unfortunately the nausea is also strong in this one..so cant play for too long :(

Other full games i want to try in VR

Subnautica
World of Diving
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (vireio drivers i think)

Not sure why someone would use paid for vorpx drivers when you can get the vireio drivers that sometimes even deliver better results

I think GTA 5 ONLY work with Vorpx ? Not sure...havn't tried but that's what I've been reading.

Subnautica seems really nice, by the way they recently released an update, it was mostly for VR. Now, it work really well (apparently). This is is an alpha build though, so keep that in mind. I'm really tempted to try it.

Star conflict is not only great in VR on the first look. It's simply great. Best VR integration. No judder at all. VR menus that are readable without any effort. If played at solid 75 FPS you wont get sick either. The game is good fun as well but obviously that is a matter of taste.

VorpX: I played skyrim for a while. Elder Scrolls online and Vanishing of Ethan carter. Every game i tried with vorpx makes me feel sick or at least odd after a while. Yes it works but it is a pain in the ass.

subnautica is the ... , i highly recommend.
they are updating like crazy

it is a early access alpha, but they are an actual game studio. As opposed to the plethora of start up EA's.

the game lacks a bit of content but it doesnt get old fast, it really is like being on acid while scuba diving and trying to survive out in the ocean.

in the rift it is just insane

smooth as butter with a 980 as well

Blazerush. Best. Lobby. Ever. Had to forcibly remove my friend from the OR once he tried that.
Radial-G is also pretty awesome. If someone had recorded my first playthrough it would have been 3 minutes of expletives.
