Oculus Rift order will be processing for shipment soon.

Stunning, one of the main reasons I packed my DK2 away was the awful washed out colours , herendous smearing all of which resulted from going direct mode.

I could go on and on but I'll leave it there, I was a DK2 user for over a 1.5 years, if your coming from one to a CV1 your going to very happy with the difference and quality.

That's great to hear, my payment has been taken so the Rift should be with me very soon. DK2 user for a year so I'm really looking forward to the improvements.

Well its is all up and running. I can see quite a difference in Quality in ED between the Vive and Rift. Firstly the bigger panels and text is easier to read, not sure why they made it smaller for Vive. More importantly I can select Much higher graphics settings in the Rift, 2x ss and SMAA, and still get my 90fps. Very happy indeed. I dont need my glasses for the Rift where as I do for ED on the Vive.

Rift arrived today. It's fantastic, although I've never tried any other headsets to compare it to. You can definitely see the edges of the screen, but I found that it's not really a problem. Latency is non-existent and the screen-door effect / general blurriness, while noticeable, is presumably greatly diminished compared to previous versions. 4 years of hype and anticipated, and I wasn't disappointed at all. :D

I think this is the start of something amazing. It only gets better from here.

Yeah I am really amazed at how much better ED is rendered in the rift its a shame, I have both Rift and Vive and I want them both to work as well in ED.
I had my longest ED session in ages last night.
It is like a whole new game. When I come out of a station and look at the same things I have been seeing over the last to years, in all new glory. I was still smiling like a kid at some of the spectacular views and giving the occasional WOW.

Now I am not a spectator I am actually there.

The only thing I can't do is SRV. If I am lucky and find a smooth section I am ok for a while but eventually it messes with my brain and I start to break out into a sweat. Had to get my ship to come and get me on Monday before I got really ill.

Just got mine. Played 5 min of E: D, I thought it was okaaaayy while I was sitting on the landing pad, but then I launched, and just WOW.

Had my cv1 since last Friday have found it so much more comfortable than the dk2 and the improvement is very noticeable
the only slight and I mean slight is the heat on my cheeks. What I've found for me is to tilt the headset forward and the only pressure I feel is on my forehead doesn't touch my cheeks now

Screen door is very minimal compared to dk2 I have to stare hard to notice it. God Ray's don't bother me at all but until I upgrade from my 970 to really appreciate the beauty which is elite

Shame nobody does a cool gel face cover to combat the slight heat problem. I'm using a fan blowing up in through the nose area it works to a certain degree but not ideal

BUT I LOVE MY CV1

Did you ever have any VR sickness when driving an SRV using your Vive? I heard that cutting down peripheral vision helped cure motion sickness. I wonder if having to use your spectacles in the Vive had a similar positive effect.

Great to hear you guys have the rift already; still waiting for mine - I think xxx66xx - and hopefully
getting it really soon.
Best part is you're, mostly all, very positive about the build quality etc. because that's really
bothering me especially in relation to the pricetag :O

Unfortunately get it in both. It is the only thing in ED that really make me ill. I think we need hovercraft :)
Reducing the field of view very substantially would probably make a difference but the going up and down bumps all the time on the surface, would mean you basically have to have the screen blank always (well for me anyway).
I am hoping it is something I will get used to over time. I used to get a bit ill doing rolls in stations to line up with landing pad that was over head, and also doing lots of manoeuvres around asteroids but now that does not affect me.

I've owned a DK2 for a substantial amount of time now. The first game I played was Half Life 2. It is amazing the difference when playing a 1st person shooter in VR. It's so easy to see where the baddies are. They are just.. there. And seeing Dog in VR was amazing. Playing that game was gut-wrenchingly queasy, but I built up an immunity, so much so that I never had any ill effects when flying Elite spaceships, even with a heavy cold.

The bad news is that I also got a queasy feeling when powering my SRV over an undulating moonscape. I hope there is some simple solution to mitigate the effects. The momentary cutting down of peripheral vision sounds a much better solution to the one already employed by games such as "Farlands" which just teleports you, and then glues you to the spot.

I feel the same way. It was a worthy purchase for me. Seeing the edges of the rift is definitely not a problem for me, and the screendoor effect is nothing compared to the DKs. Easily forgotten.

Also have you purchased any other AAA titles through the Oculus store? Edge of Nowhere is a pretty awesome experience, and I really enjoyed Lucky's Tale despite some of the criticisms I've read.

3rd person perspective can definitely work in VR!!

Update: Wow. Big grin. Had to look for god rays. Even looking around the Home screen with the cushions is amazing in stereo.

Yes I get the same thing, I have managed to build up a little immunity to the effects by doing short stints of driving slowly. I am now able to drive around and scan some data points at settlements and stuff without getting too bad. But after 20-30 minutes I need to go to my ship before my head starts to drip sweat. Oh and SQUEEEE just got my CV1 will be shipping soon notice.

The Cv1 is actually working fine with the 780GTX- I thought it would be very chubky, but not really any serious judder even on planets. Granted I'm a long way out of the bubble, so no AI or other player ship activity.

No motion sickness, but a bit of eye strain after 2 hours.

No need to wear glasses (I'm a bit long sighted).

Great purchase. Very happy.

God rays (I haven't had prior DK2 etc experience, so didn't really notice the god rays. They are there (I can find them) but not distracting, when compared to my dirty Asp windscreen.

The Asp feels huge, about 8 feet across the cockpit.

Body feels a little small.

Back into it later today!!!!!!

BUY ONE!

Sorry for the late reply, I've been rather preoccupied the last week :D . I haven't tried edge of nowhere yet, but Lucky's Tale is amazing in VR. It's meant to be a simple and solid platformer to demonstrate how those games can work in VR, and it does that very well. I feel that most criticisms directed at it demonstrate a misunderstanding about its goals and objectives as a game.

One game you should try is Warthunder. Just check the "Oculus Rift" box in options. Being able to actually sit in a WWII fighter cockpit is absolutely beyond description. And get DCS World for that matter. It will automatically detect the rift.

Oke, finally received the "your order has been processed" mail and the
money is already taken from my paypal-account.
Orderdate 13-03-16 and nr. xxx66xxx. Delayed delivering window 28/7-4/8.
Seems like they speeding up after the first delay.
Now waiting for the shipping confirmation email and tracking information.

Curious how long this will take.
Living in the Netherlands.
