Oculus rift vs. menu screen

Hokay. A couple of weeks into the game, loving it so far. But, i have a couple of issues that should be easy to fix.
First one has already been mentioned in a previous thread by another poster: Text colors for DK2. Loads of text is pretty much unreadable originally.

My main problem to present here tho is the menues. I have trouble setting my control scheme while wearing the Rift, as the menu screens are flat and the text is near the edge.
If you take a look at a game called Star Conflict, you'll find a way more sensible and readable setup, where the menu screens are curved around you so you always see the text head-on.

That is at least one solution, but i am sure other alternatives exist as well. Right now it's bloody annoying to have to turn off the rift if i want to do any major configs, and then turn it on again.

Great game tho :)

Just lean over and it'll be in the middle of your view :)

Either that or lean back a little when you re-center. It'll bring it closer when you sit normally.

Don't underestimate the power of a lean, you have a fair amount of maneuverability before the camera looses track of you. I was having trouble reading the two side menus in cockpit just by turning my head; but a turn and a lean makes the text considerably more readable.

Hmm.. First thought: "waitwhat? Lean is existing in ED? *frantically searches settings for 3 missing axis*" I'm appearantly doing something odd.

Aaanywho, even if a lean may make it work, i still believe that not only the gameplay but also the menues should accomodate Rift.
I'll stay at Star Conflict as an example: The main menu is actually in a 3d environment instead of a flat screen. In ED you get nothing like that.
And in SC, the font is bigger and clearer, mostly due to the fact that you have way more space to write your stuff on a wall that stretches around the user, instead of cramming it all on a flat surface in front of him.
Hey, even if the menu screens were just a black room with white text wrapped around you, it would be an improvement in my opinion.

*Scampers off to see if i've missed completely on any settings*

Welcome CMDR! Are you using a DK2? If so, there is no setting to change. Positional tracking should be working by default, allowing you to just lean to your left to read the text. Make sure your pos-track camera's blue light is coming on when the game starts and that it is far enough away from you to get a nice full range when leaning forward, left, and right without losing tracking. I think mine is about 3-4 feet away from me.

If you're using a DK1, none of this applies and you won't really ever be able to read anything. =[

When I had the Dk1 my main gripe was with the menus all being off to one side so much so it still bothers me to this day on a normal monitor. Just that ocd in me :)
