Oculus sale - sold out?

Hello folks

Been thinking of taking advantage of the current £399 sale for the Rift/Touch bundle. I've just been waiting for payday, which I felt comfortable to do as I read that the sale was on until late August.
However checking around now it seems that most places are sold out?!
I'd been intending to get it from amazon.co.uk as I think this had the most comprehensive package - also including xbox controller.
I see it's still available direct from Oculus for this price, but I think this pack does NOT include the xbox controller.
(Am I correct here thinking there are indeed different packages from different vendors, or have I misread?)

Anyway, what do you fine folks reckon my best course of action is?
Are Amazon likely to restock? Is ANYONE likely to restock?
Should I pull the trigger at the Oculus store before they sell out too even though the package is more limited for the price?

Thanks

I got my Oculus Rift direct from Oculus last week, I Got the full package which included the Touch Controllers, Headset, X-Box one Wireless Controller and Dongle and the 7 games (Downloadable through the Oculus Store when you have it setup). It took a little longer to receive the two boxes as they shipped from The Netherlands. Best thing I have bought in a very long time, Elite is amazing on it and sitting in the cockpit of a Beluga is an Incredible experience.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, it seems like a bit of a gamble for now.
I contacted Oculus to ask exactly what is included. But now as I wait for their response, their remaining stock of that fully inclusive bundle may be disappearing!
Do you think vendors like amazon.co.uk will restock?

obviously i do not know for sure, but my guess would be, if they are awaiting stock from oculus, even if they do, there is a good chance it will be the new rift/touch combo pack.

even without the xbox pad this current summer of rift deal is mental and the price will go up another £100 after it ends, and then it will DEFINITELY be the new xbox pad less bundle.

imo if you cant find any where instock with the old pack, if you are gonna order anyway, then, the sooner you get your order in with oculus the better your chances of getting the xbox pad.

look at it as a bonus if you get it now......
honestly even without the pad, its worth it imo, and most games support touch as an xbox pad now so its not like you wont be able to use it.

even without the xbox pad this is a steal. it cost me £690 for that lot and no regrets my end.

(its possible you will need the 3rd sensor for another £80 at some point in the future but suck it and see 1st)(

Living in Belgium, ordered last week Tuesday evening from the Oculus store and received the full package (including controller, ...) yesterday morning, Monday. Two boxes with the origingal Rift and the Touch controls both in a separate box. Shipped from the Netherlands.

I ordered mine directly from Oculus and it arrived in the UK via the Netherlands in four days. Currys had sold out, and many of my customers experience problems with John Lewis's delivery schedules. (Which was the other option).

The xbx controller is in the rift cv1 package.
All rifts include this xbx controller and no unit is shipped without it.
Once you have the touch controller it's superfluous at best.

I still get use out the xbx controller for 2d gaming on my htpc.

This was true 4 days ago.... its less certain now.

PS some games still suit a pad even with touch imo

https://www.oculus.com/blog/rift-touch-now-available-in-a-new-all-in-one-bundle/

AFTER this summer discount all rifts will ship with touch and 2nd sensor but no pad or remote.. that much is certain

however stocks appear to be running low on the old packs and the worry is the new bundle will be phased in before the end of the sale, and indeed the oculus store has updated to remove mention of the xbox pad.

a post on reddit and twitter seems to suggest for now the pad is still included, but, imo if it aint on your recipt when you order then it is hard to be certain you will get it... esp as oculus are not answering the question on their own forums

Thanks for the replies folks!

Just bit the bullet and ordered from the Oculus site!
We'll see. I don't know if the inclusion or otherwise of the xbox controller will make a huge difference to me to be honest. I've not used a controller since the PS1 days so it's not my idiom!

Exciting!! :)

Figured they might be dropping these eventually.

As I mentioned, after getting the touch controllers the xbx controller isn't even connected to my main pc.
And the puck has been sitting in a drawer long before I even considered getting the touch.

Sure there might be a title or two left that could be better with a controller but there isn't going to be many new titles made for 'non touch' and for those the touch controllers, with albeit varying success, double as a regular controller.

If I had to choose between the Xbox controller and the touch controller for Elite Dangerous, i'g go with the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller is a nice addon to the already sweet deal. On some game i realy a enjoy a controller. I had the wired XBox 360 controller, now its the wireless One.

via netherlands? i think mine came from Ireland... maybe they have sold out?

did you get the xbox pad bundle?
I sure did Mike. Plus remote, and third sensor with the touch controls. Yes I was surprised to see the Netherlands on my tracking page. :)

Oculus advertised the 6 week "Summer Sale" bundle and listed it's contents. I would think they would be obligated (under penalty of false advertising) to ship the Xbox CTRL and small remote during that 6 weeks. The wording in the Road to VR article https://www.roadtovr.com/rift-touch...e-new-one-box-removes-xbox-controller-remote/ "likely intended for the post-sale period" seems a valid assumption. Seems like people ordering on the sale are getting the Full Monty.

Edit
I guess the concern is now they don't list those items in the $399 bunble when you add it to cart. I guess time will tell. The reportage on July 10 also refers to "Oculus announces Rift/Touch price for $399" for the six weeks, not the bundle. I am guessing they will only ship the Xbox until they run out. It appears not to commit them to what was listed in the original bundle. Ignore my false advertising hypothesis.

I think their original plan was to have the full bundle for the remainder of the 6 week sale before switching over as they thought they had accumulated enough stock to cover that time frame as they switch over to the new bundle. They had probably already made the manufacturing switch to the new bundle and would just stockpile that until the sale ended. That plan went out the window when they pretty much sold out the first week so they accelerated their new bundle release timeframe. I'm guessing amazon prime day and the best buy eve deal didn't help matters either.

Ok, having read this thread and done a bit of quick research I have taken the plunge and ordered the rift bundle direct from oculus. Next step is going to have to be upgrading my rig to run it. Then there is the even more delicate task of explaing to Mrs Dare how this expenditure contributes to the peace, harmony and general happiness aboard the good ship Anastasia as she travels the cosmos in search of fame, riches, aliens, influence and the ever elusive Elite status.

Squeeeee :)

the word on the street is this sale has gone even better than they had hopped. great for oculus, great for VR as a whole... however it has meant that where they apparently initially thought this sale would get rid of most of the old stock so they could end the sale with kicking out the new bundle... we are barely half way in and they are already looking to have to bring out the new bundle.

a nice problem for oculus to have!. online i cant find anywhere with stock now and oculus i beleive are now up to a month on the back orders.

unless they are doing a Nintendo (woefully short amount of product made) then i guess it means oculus sales have shot up.

i really should read the full thread before replying to protect me from the ninjas ;)

Tell the boss you are just being a good citizen. obviously you care about science and your old rig was so slow that it could not efficiently help out on the "folding at home" project

http://folding.stanford.edu/

really what you have done by upgrading your pc is actually a charitable act.
