Odyssey: Beautiful, love it except for dorky “Two Rifles” back and forth nonsense. Only design by committee could implement such an absurd mechanic…

The CG only had Medium - but from memory maybe 1? I do have Extra Ammo on there so there's a fair amount of hits between reloads 🤷‍♀️

The whole point of the Oppressor (for me) is you don't really bother counting ..
Well, I just looked up a video of a G5 Oppressor in a High CZ. Not sure why everybody on here was so adamant it's a crap weapon, because it seems to tear through shields and armour a lot faster than I was expecting.

I think almost everyone dislikes it, and so people use plasma weapons to circumvent it.Pl

Ummm.

.. or just use a single plasma rifle like everyone else ..

Hehe. Plasma sidearm? For sure.

I think it takes some getting used to, there's a learning curve and all that .. but .. point and squeeze I think is quite dull. The system we have means there's some weapon handling and how you handle that weapon depends on the condition of your enemy. So it adds the need for situation awareness and I've certainly breached a point (elite rank: deadeye) where I don't think about switching, it happens automatically but a clean kill means bringing the shield down, duck cover with weapon handling / reload before a re-aiming, fast. It seems fairly unique in terms of other games? But I've got to say, I like it, now I've got the hang of it.

ps. None of this long range rubbish. Sneak around behind a container, before getting up close and personal, TK Eclipse and AR-50 .. Tormentor for emergencies. Lovely.

Do you know X-Com? It's like this

Range (and for now elevation) are your friend though. Depending on the settlement layout, I can just stake out a roof and take out CZ reinforcements with Aphelion/AR-50 before they even give a HUD pop-up.

I have a pair of the carbines at G5. Both with faster handling, mag size, stowed reloading and stability.

They're great in low/medium zones and at clearing settlements, but in high zones they feel more like tickling and I don't like how long I have to be exposed pouring fire into a guy before he drops. In mediums they're great if you team up with a bunch of NPCs and switch to whichever type your buddies aren't using, or else if you just stick to using the laser exclusively to strip shields then let friendly grenade spam clean up the suits.

If there was a high-powered kinetic rifle that could reliably let you pop out of cover, waste an unshielded opponent, then duck back into cover, I'd probably use that a lot. As it is, the intimidator fulfils that role pretty well.

Got the G5 AR-50 with Faster Handling, Magazine Size and Reload Speed, since I switch too fast for Stowed Reloading to have any effect and the recoil is quite manageable. I have no trouble downing unshielded NPCs in High CZs though, only the Enforcer takes roughly twice as much bullets. Still considering filling the last mod slot with Headshot Damage for that last little bit of DPS.

Plasma rifle + rocket launcher

Peace by superior firepower :D

Bill

For Frontline as well as Scavengers I've been using, as purchased:
  • G3 Dominator w/o Eng
  • G2 Executioner w/Stowed Reload
  • G3 L-6 w/Magazine Size
  • G2 Tormentor w/o Eng
In many settlements I'm now able take down at least 3 or 4 scavengers with 2 shots each from the Executioner at range. But you have to be quick about it. And so far I've also been able to get about 30 to 40 percent accuracy on moving targets. Practice/Practice/Practice

When the Executioner needs a reload, I swap it out for the L-6, launch a magazine of rockets, reload it and then switch back to the Executioner all ready to go...

The Tormentor gets no use as of yet, though I plan to start using this indoors, if I remember to.

ATM I see no reason/need to upgrade any weapons as I'm sure my skillz can still be improved.

I have visited Domino Green on two occasions, but that was only to verify that I do not have enough mats for anyway. I haven't been big on looting until recently. I do want to upgrade backpack capacity, so I can carry more stuphz.

Against Scavengers I win more often than not, roughly 70/30 or so though I do want to start incorporating all 3 grenade types into my repertoire as well, which could get me that other 30 or so %, especially using the Shield and EMP grenades.
