Odyssey ganking and rebuy screen?

Open play scenario:
You're in a bar (of course), armed only with your exploration gadgets, in thin suit. A rowdy Cmdr comes in and blasts your head off with his engineered plasma gun.
Where do you respawn after rebuy?

Solo play scenario:
You're in a bar (of course). Alone.

Death penalty is a burning question.

depends what's in the players left panel when they're on foot.
hopefully the exploration data and everything else gained while in the ship stays in the ship... ofc that would work only if the cmdr doesn't lose the ship after he loses the head

As far as I'm aware, so far no info has been released, so any community guess would just be speculation.

From my PoV, having the 100% reliable escape pods in our ships and instant SAR/respawn at a possibly distant station is far fetched, but just plausible enough to be the excuse.

How that would work with a human body protected only by what the player can carry, and how much power he can afford to expend on shields from his suit batteries? Any solution that I can imagine is to my mind, out of my plausibility zone.
 
Interesting scenario: since everything appears to work via telepresence, I presume you just appear in which ever suit you own (if you have enough rebuy) and pay the appropriate insurance like you do with ships. :D :D
 
Social hubs usually don't allow weapons in games, my guess is elite won't be any different.
As for body rebuys, have no idea

You can be shot dead the moment your ship disengage from pad's clamps

And no, stations cannot be considered hub -since there is no interaction there
Sure in Odyssey there will be places where people will come face to face, but there is no reason to believe they will be safe in any way.
Hub rammers and gankers will find a way 😂

At Odyssey's launch, there will be three types of social spaces;
  • Planetports, Spaceports and Outposts. Planetports will be in large surface installations, such as survey sights and observatories.
  • Spaceports will be found within larger starbases, such as the Coriolis and Orbis stations.
  • Outpost social hubs will be located in small orbital stations like mining outposts and trade depots.
Each of these categories will have a unique layout, with a degree of standardisation to help you find your way around. The visuals inside individual installations will be themed around the economy type of the star system.
These social spaces will be the main explorable area, which you will be able to access through the hangar bays. Social spaces will be available to Odyssey players in pre-existing and new locations throughout the galaxy.
Although I can’t find the quote (or maybe it was during a livestream) but I recall it being said weapons would be disabled in the social areas.

But that would open up a Dangerous precedence.
There are voices wondering why there are no safe hubs in ED currently, but maybe that will change too...
 
I'm guessing that we won't be able to get out of our suits (except to swap suits) in Odyssey, just as we can't get out of our ships (except to swap ships) now. And all available suits will be assumed to have facilities to protect the wearer from permadeath.

If there are "social spaces" where we can get out of our suits, they will nave no-weapons rules too.

Ok, nice... but there's combat, so question remains, where would we respawn/wake up after we get killed (when shield drops, guess armor will crack like hulls do).
In the ship? Outside base?
Or would we just "freeze" until we "regain power" to continue?
Hope FDev reveals this soon.
