Joking aside, would it be a bad idea for a (locked) sticky in the main Odyssey discussion forum specifically addressing the console point to prevent retreading this and the (understandable to a degree) contention it continues to seed? At least until we have a final say from Frontier on the matter.

I don't know if it would be a bad idea, but it'd literally be a bunch of players saying "I don't know" or asking "Yeah... when is it coming to console?" and zero response from FDev.
What I mean is something that just outlines the current status in an informational sticky that's locked entitled "Odyssey on Console Official Status" or something with some explanation underneath with maybe a FAQ for those who, like OP, pop in to see what's going on.
In theory, it sounds great. But if nothing comes from FDev, then it serves no purpose. Right now, they're being really tight-lipped about console.
The entirety of the FAQ would be:
"Has FDev given any indication as to when, or if, EDO comes to console? No."
Once they make some sort of announcement, I think your idea would be much more viable. As of now, there's just no content for it.

An faq with only people licensed to post might work, else all it'd achieve is "are we there yet" several times a day, as you guys have been discussing above this!

I do think though that this question is why FDEV have remained so quiet thus far this year. They know they'll be bombarded with the question, and heavily criticised if their answer is still 'nothing to say at this time'. So are waiting until they have something concrete to say. Thing is, if it's bad news for console players, that news doesn't get better with age. So I figure the delay suggests they are either still uncertain whether they can get Odyssey to work to a satisfactory standard, or simply haven't decided a release date yet so they can at least advise that. If they're going to say Odyssey won't come to consoles they should just get it over with.....but I do think that's seen as an absolute last resort.
