Odyssey Space - Frame Skipping

Hey guys,

I recently updated my CPU to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and have since experienced weird frame skipping in EDO.

Two test flights below.

It feels as though frames are being skipped and it is happening very frequently, to the point where it is unplayable. Has anyone else experienced this or know what's going on?

Specs:
ASUS TUF RTX 3070 Gaming OC
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
G.Skill 3600c18 8GB - x4

I haven't seen this myself, at least not in EDO and not in a very long time in Horizons.

Out of curiosity, does it still happen if you turn off vsync?

Things I've tried to no avail so far:

Setting VSYNC to fast in Nvidia 3D settings
Clearing the Graphics folder in appdata/local
Updating drivers (nvidia, chipset)

just thought id let you know a good while back someone found there game recording software picked up a bug that caused this
may be worth ruling out, that was an NVIDIA card though...…………...

Hey thanks for this. I disabled the nvidia overlay including shadowplay and haven't seen any stuttering since. I'll run a few more tests later this evening to hopefully confirm.

The first video at least clearly has a frame rate cap in place. Stuttering still an issue without that?

What about driver settings? Are you using any low latency mode?
I don't believe I have low-latency enabled in the 3D settings, I can try that out

soz cant rem the original thread url but was @least a couple of years ago
fingers crossed for ya...………………
(I do rem it was driving the poor cmdr nutz)

I've done maybe 20-30 test runs now and the frame skipping has stopped. The steps I've taken since deleting the graphics folder in appdata/local were:

Removing Ryzen Master and reinstalling it
Disabling Nvidia overlay & re-enabling it

I never got to change the setting for low-latency mode, but I did enable vsync fast in the Nvidia control panel. The game runs fine now, although I don't really understand where the problem was - the most likely culprit seems to have been nvidia shadowplay but all I really did was disable and enable it again.

Hopefully this helps others out in the future if they stumble onto the same problem, thank you folks that have replied to this thread.

Gote Same Problem with AMD 3800x and RX6800 to fix this i cap the game on 100 Frames, but sometimes its stuttering to, only 75 Hz mode will fix it for me, on 100 sometimes, 144 much more.
