Odyssey VR specific bug reports - please contribute!

Oh for fu……….thanks for noticing this 😅

We (the VR players) now have to go through the whole rigmarole again of getting an issue Confirmed - I’m going to add mine to these already-existing reports:

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/54535 - Severe lighting flickering problem in VR - 6x Confirms
https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/56742 - Texture or shadow flicker still persists in VR - 2x Confirms

It’s not the first time FDev have done something like this - do they not read the comments on the Issue Reports?
🤬
Edit: I suggest we all confirm #54535 - it has a better description and a video link. New confirmations now bring it up to 6x 👍
Voted. This and the SRV seat shadow are the most irritating bugs for me at the moment. Though there are quite a few close behind! :ROFLMAO:

I cannot believe my headlook eyes. Could it be?

After acknowledgment, what's next in the "will they fix it?" wheel of fortune process? I got my first-born packed and ready for sacrificial offering lol.

It’s the only current Confirmed report still awaiting Acknowledgement. Two other VR reports got the green tick recently, so hopefully it means someone at FDev is looking at VR 🤞
God I hope so, I havent played in months (since they stopped working on 3.8) because 4.0 its just so bad. So yer 🤞

Blummin’eck - there are two VR fixes mentioned in today’s patch notes, one of them mine as well 😱

  • VR shipyard camera positioning has been corrected. (No more sneak preview of ship interiors 😁)
  • VR Codex and Squadron screens brightness has been adjusted. (No more bathing in heavenly glory!)
Hopefully the much more frequently visible bugs of flickering shadows and SuperCruise view glitch will get addressed in the future. I was hoping they’d get fixed before their first anniversary, never mind their second! Sometime this year, FDev, plizz?

Edit: Remember to redistribute those votes, VR folks!

Issue could not be loaded. I hope that is merely a problem on my side as that issue was already confirmed and voted for...
oh, 3rd time's the charme, it is there now, phew.

I’ve checked the two documented fixes:
  • the VR shipyard is very nice now, almost like having a yard-long scale model in front of you that you can rotate
  • the Codex/Squadron issue is a lot better but not perfect - something in the scene lighting is being switched off, like everything becomes very flatly lit. Perhaps bloom is missing?
…so I’ll be shifting them from the active list in the OP.

Agreed on both counts.

After Codex brightness fix, the main menu looks washed out. Nonfunctional and it can stay like that for all I care but maybe that bled into what you're reporting with illumination.

Both, the comms panel bug that clear text when you look at it, and the flashes when jumping in/out of FSD are still there, unfortunately. Shadow flashing inside stations, while much reduced or even fixed in certain ships, still remains in others. My Cobra sees no shadow flashes but my Corvette is very prevalent. Update 15 did not change this one way or another.

Separately, Update 14 introduced stuttering in VR (for me) while surrounded by lots of floating objects, mainly in asteroid fields. Trying it now it looked better. I still need to run an hour or two in a RES generating ship pieces, mats, etc from destroyed ships to really tell if it has improved. Will do that tonight. For science, of course.

As far as I can see, only the very 2 specific VR issues in the release notes were addressed. FSD flashing is still there, clear of Comms text is there, flickering shadows, disappearing of rings after you return, etc.

Still, I think it's great that someone took the time to dedicate a few cycles to fixing anything VR related. I had lost all hope to have anything fixed with VR so this was a pleasant surprise. Here's hoping they do more from our long list of issues OP's been caring for.

The disappearing rings are still a thing? My last report for it expired with 7 confirmations - I’ll try again now the Update is out 👍
Edit: I’ve checked and planet rings are still becoming invisible in both flatscreen and VR. As such I’ve added it to the flatscreen bug thread instead of here. Anyone who wants to contribute, please add:

Flickering shadows is my main bugbear now; having huge swathes of landscape strobing or the shadows on Stations blinking on and off is just really unpleasant on the eyes. Hopefully all the VR shadow problems are interlinked and can be sorted out in one fell swoop.
