General Odyssey weapon loadout 2 mediums

Standard weapon load out:
1 big gun and one small gun.

Why can’t we have 2 medium guns?
There is no point having the medium gun and a pistol.

I love it. If only there were scenarios where I'd actually use, like fighting in close quarters inside stations, might even find more use for the carbines then....
Is the auto- bullet aim "assist" still a problem? I thought it was. But yeah... oppressor 4 lyf.

On topic... for everything i know of this stuff, people "can" carry two primary weapons and a sidearm, but
  • it's unwieldy and awkward
  • you won't actually be quick- switching between the two as a general rule (at least, not safely)
  • all practical uses i can find are usually of people carrying two weapons with distinctly different purposes, so you aren't using both in a single engagement, and not without a team supporting you.

So the combat armour let's us be a little fantastical on that front... but really... it's not a thing where you'd quick- switch from a longarm to another longarm (and damn... if you forgot which mag was which XD)

It is pretty quick to switch primary weapons (not so quick if one is a rocket launcher, granted), normally from ranged to close-up for me, with the switch to sidearm when needed.
I don't think, even when cleansing an Imp / Fed settlement, that I've been pressed so hard that weapons switching has been a major disadvantage.

My favourite loadout with a Dom suit is just two Intimidators, no sidearms.
Both shotguns with faster handling, improved hip fire, larger magazine and stowed reloading: I carry on as if I had a single weapon, never having to reload, and never switching accidentally to the wrong weapon.

I feel like a T-800 wielding Ash's Boomstick. 🤭

C-44, Eclipse and Oppressor have quicker draw/stow/ADS, and you can move faster, i like SMG/Carbine but in ED-O they have more cons that pros, base range of 25 m like pistol cripple them.

Movement:
here a quick compare, in blue for Suits equipped with Combat Movement Speed, tbh just stow your weapon or draw your pistol/shotgun if u need quick redeploy.

Handling:
put Fast Handling on you prefered weapons and you can draw/stow/ADS at almost same speed of SMG,

to compare Carbines to Rifles, higher RoF + lower dmg/shoot of Carabine is outperformed by Rifles range with almost same damage ratio (bullet dmg/RoF) up to 50m for AR50 and 70m for Aphelion, base range that you can extend with Greater Range.

Personal setup for High-Intensity GCZs,
i have alot of fun with Aphelion, Intimidator, P15 setup to maximize flexibility at all ranges and movement speed.

Fast Handling, Stowed Reload, Magazine Size just to forget reloading and keep sustained fire;
Greater Range on P15 to bring the effective rng to 38m; remaining slot on primary as desired.

P15 in combo with Aphelion, do not think P15 as sidearm/backup, this little beast is a real damage dealer and almost hitscan,
Tormentor is the king of dmg but slow plasma bullet speed do not match with Aphelion for long range hit, i prefer Tormentor on missions, while P15 on High-Intensity GCZs, personal choice of course.

Intimidator when things come close and personal, w/ max movement speed, what else :)

GCZs Wild setups,
For extra fun in GCZs, "double shotgun" or "double L-6" is alot of fun... P15 still my sidearm to quick "coup de grace" wounded NPC.

Final considerations,
it should be noted that "switch speed" is stow of active weapon + draw of selected one, is almost negligible in tens of milliseconds, but if you go for Fast Handling is better to have on all weapons, of course the ADS bonus still applicable on single weapon.

SMG need some rework & love, especially the "not-so-oppressor"...

This is of course just a personal preference, but I see no point in not carrying a plasma pistol, regardless of other weapons.

Simple answer is the suit only has one backpack mounting point, and they're to big for your hip.
A more complicated answer revolvs around balance, what tone the devs wanted, and forcing you to make choices.

Ah, so I was referring to RL, not the game, thus this bit:

Sorry for the confusion :)

It's fixed with a toggle in on-foot controls options (IIRC). Oppressor is quite OK(-ish) with it turned off, at close to medium range, against level 1 and 2 scavs.

But on topic: All you need is a fully silenced Tormentor and a little stealth. Solves pretty much all problems in life🙃
