Oh what happened to the NPCs with update 6?

I dont know what to say, since update 6 NPCs became very agressive.
They start shooting at me while im still busy with landing. Then they run all to the ship and start fireing at it.
Only more far away NPCs wont run to it.
Last update i was able to land nearby or even use the landing pad, not anymore.

While i should get a text message when my ship is under attack and sometimes i even get a voice message, this does not work always.
Today was the 1st time with update 6 and every time all npcs run to the ship. With lower rang NPCs this is not a big problem, however the higher ones have better firepower. When i get a message i can go there and kill them.
Usually i go kill scavengers and then scavenge the base myself. Sometimes dropships drop more of em.
Well today i cleaned them out and did loot the base and then all of a sudden i got the message my ship got destroyed.
I did not know why because i did not see anyone ( because NPCs dont use flashlights anymore when its dark or there where no NPCs) at the landing pad. I gotten no warnigs of getting attacked .
Ok i also did not hear any ship landing or setting down troops. Ok
So i run around and found a group of maybe 8-10 NPCs (very hard when its dark now) that must have destroyed my ship. Of couse thouse where the ones with 3 shield bars.

I guess they where dropped at the spot where the landing pad is and killed my fully enginnered Krait MK2 with 4 pips on shield docked on the landing pad in seconds. Then went to the spots they wanted to go.

What crap is this ? Why all NPCs now run to a parked ship and shoot at it. They see it serveral hundred meters away and start fire at it.
Is it a new feature that they dont use flashlights in pure dark? Glad i can see the shields, i see em on the scanner sometimes and in my short flashlight beam.
So no more sniping or sneaky gameplay because all they do is attack the ship and if i dare to shoot em em they go after me.
12 or 14 at once.
So i guess i have to change gameplay, just use the dom with dual missile launcher and kill all of em with a few shots or not?

On a side note, how i get my ship back when it was destroyed and im alive on foot? Get a Shuttle and do a rebuy at a big station ?
What Happens if i go to a station where i stored a ship and get that out, is the other lost then? Even more interesting what happens if the 2nd one is destroyed too ? Can i still get the 1st one with rebuy back?
Or do i always have to die on foot to get my ship back?

Actually im so glad i have already all the upgrades i wanted and only miss g5 on 3 weapons i dont use anyway.
With this crap ongoin its no use to play odyssey.

Under Options / NPC AI Actions
Pull down menu on AGRESSIVE: change from "didn't get any last night" to "twice this morning before breakfast"
Under ATTITUDE: change from "grumpy as hell" to "had coffee this morning, mellowed out.
Under COMPREHENSION: Change from "must destroy all humans" to "totally drunk, no idea what I'm supposed to shoot at."

Hope that helps.

Apparently they detect anything less than 400m away and attack that, ship, srv or you.
Flashlight seems to be bugged.

You landing 50M away from scavengers that are guarding a settlement they raided was garbage and has been fixed. Land away from the settlement and infiltrate.

No flashlights is a bug.
I still Apex in. I don't take my ship on kill missions of any variety. Keeps the "tipped off" mechanic from happening ;)

Even before 6 those flashlights seemed to have boosted their vision wayyyyyyyy far into the distance. It's like no matter how far I am, if they turn and that light shines in my direction they detect me, even if I'm 300+ meters away from them...

I land about 3km or so away out of line of sight.
Srv drive to location park about 200m or so away in a area near the powerplant.
My 1st priority is the alarms. So sneaking about cloning id etc is essential.
In vr on foot its borked atm. Pixilated mess...very low resolution. I've reverted back to before upd 6 gfx settings and it's still borked! So can't test the AI.

 Brilliant!

I always land ay least half a Km away and dismiss my ship for these missions but yeah the NPC's are super hyped since update 6, no flashlights and can see, hear and kill you way before you can see them

Only their long-range shooters can engage from 200+ m away..easily dispatched they've little armour etc. I just keep moving in srv. Managed to sort out pixilated mess by reverting back to pre 6 patch settings

I don't use the SRV and I don't yet have Night Vision, neither of which has been a problem until the patch. Now trying to sneak undetected into a Scavenger settlement is virtually impossible. I did 6 missions yesterday and was killed in 4 of them, prior to the patch I haven't failed one of these since I was just starting

Had the same happen to me yesterday, parked 200m back from the base after taking out the scavengers with missiles cause I know all the scavengers are super aggro now and more would come. It wasn't far enough, no verbal warning or com just ship destroyed. The mission was bugged from the start, when I exited the ship I found all the dead had been raptured during the exit animation even the ones laying around my ship in plain sight had disappeared. No dead personnel on site either so how was I supposed to gain level 3 to restart the reactor and download from a data point? This just added insult to injury and shows mission's can still be bugged, at least the looting was productive even if I had to take a ride home in a hire vehicle. Note update 6: Careful where you park your ship on these type's of missions. :)

Yup don't!
Park well away 3km or so that's out of range of auto turrets etc.
Or! Just send it away into orbit once landed.
And not using the srv...mmmm saves time.
And it's a hoot in the turret whilst in vr speeding about.
Sod the immersion. Get that from the views. Just in spank, and out with the goods

If it's to do with scavengers, see this thread:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...npcs-advanced-tracking-work-below-bar.586992/

The first post has an issue attached to it at the start of the message - try and add to the issue so FD sees that this is borked.

People complained that NPCs were too passive. They addressed that and made them more aggressive. The flashlights are on, you just can't see them. That's a bug. That they didn't react to an unidentified ship dropping on the landing pad was silly. Now they do react as expected. Destroying your ship removes a huge threat against them. So it's priority when they can't find you. Same with a parked SRV.

It is still possible to come down with a small ship real close to the settlement when you fly in low and keep buildings between you and the NPCs. Then you can still just snipe them one by one as long as you don't alarm any of them by shooting at their shields. When they spot you, they immediately communicate your position to NPCs nearby and they will all start swarming you. At least until they lose sight and go back to patrol.

I think it's a step in the right direction. I sniped over a thousand Scavengers. It was the most effective way to deal with them as you could just hop on a tall building and pop them one after another in quick succession. Now there is danger back on the menu.

If you read the patch notes, NPC's now have Thier line of sight distance scaled based on the size of the object they are looking for.

So, big ship, can be seen from far away.

Small man, can be seen from less far away.

Makes sense right?

Also means coming in using an eagle will mean you get spotted less easily than a massive cutter.

That's great, in principle. However, landing near a site and getting spotted 'in your ship' appears to make your size once you disembark STILL the same size as the ship.

Currently investigating this as I've done several tests so far each side of the spectrum, so to speak.

What it is looking like currently is that if you get near the settlement in your ship, once you disembark, all scavengers will be able to see you from a long distance away as if you are still the same size as your ship. As opposed to (my last test), landing 'far away' (Douglal, Father Ted style), going in and shooting people - your range goes back to normal.

Which seems strange - go in via them spotting you in a ship, they can spot you from 400m and shoot you with their gun before you've caused any casualties; go in undetected, kill some they find their friends with holes in the back of their heads, then they can only see you when you're within 50m (or wahtever it is).

It just seems a little unbalanced - either way there are definitely some strange bugs here - and they're not Thargoids. Tests ongoing. Feel free to help testing!

This doesn't even go into the lack of flashlights for players without Night Vision...

THE BIG PROBLEM is ~ you can't see the NPC in darkness , but they can see you CLEARLY !!!!! Use your flashlight is just calling the NPCs : HEY !!!!! I am here !!!!! COME COME !!!!! ~

I believe more than 70% of commanders haven't unlock NIGHT VISION tool , or they haven't unlock the engineer who provide the NIGHT VISION update ............

Silent kills the NPC 1 by 1 ............. if you can't see any NPC in the darkness , how can you kill them 1 by 1 ??????????? Maybe you can use your suit night vision set , Darkness is not a problem to you ! Not anymore , but you telling other commanders to snipe enemies 1 by 1 , it just like someone asking another person : Hey !!!! why are you so slow ??? why do you choose to buy a bicycle ? why not to buy a Lamborghini ??? ......................................................

The missing flashlights are a bug. It's not a problem, it's a bug. It will be fixed, because it's a bug. It's not a balancing issue, it's a bug. It does not require night vision, it requires a bug fix. Because it's a bug. A bug that will get fixed. Because it's having quite a sever effect. Funny how some bugs have higher priority than other. This bug has pretty high one. It's almost a show stopper bug. Good thing, Fdev still does bug fixes. It's a bug and it will be fixed.
