Ok Frontier... time to change the program

Every time I change a hotspot.... no matter how remote. I have to deal with some npc schmuck wanting free stuff.... Everytime. I’m starting to trade cargo space and mining equipment for weapons. This is getting old. Not ever hotspot is scoped out guys!!

That's why I fly an armed and well shielded Corvette for core mining :D

Yeah, OP. You think about dropping a couple abrasion blasters and taking some guns with you?

On the flip side, once in a hotspot, after the visitors leave there's total silence the rest of the time. Even though you're nuking rocks. I agree with OP, there shouldn't be pirates every time you enter a hotspot, but they ought to visit sometime after every once in a while. How about having the odds of pirates around scanning the rings be tied to how much the hotspot is getting mined? Almost makes sense.

To be fair, it's pretty lame. Especially outside of the bubble, but even inside the bubble.

You are in too popular a system, if you go to more remote and less populated systems, npc's have a smaller chance of being there.

Remember wakes are visible to everyone, so in a system with lotsa npc's the logic that some would be curious about a random wake in the middle of the ring if they are pirates seems to hold up.

The NPCs only appear when you first enter the ring, and if you are only carrying limpets they give their normal witty comments, leave and as Commander Rhaedas stated, never to be seen again. So they are only a problem if you are stupid enough to be flying around with cargo. There should be no need to jump from hotspot to hotspot, if you can't fill your hold in one hotspot you are doing something wrong!

Which would you prefer, to have the NPC at the beginning when you drop in then silence for the rest of your time there, or have them drop in at random times whilst you are mining? I know which I would rather prefer :D

Lol, make this game easier so I don't have to make any effort.

Maybe get gud instead of begging Fdev to nerf the game to cater to your laziness.

Yeah, I'd kinda prefer if they'd show up randomly (in populated systems, or ones close to populated systems), rather than every time you change instances, or log on, or whatever..

You could spin it and say that the NPC's detect the blasts from cored asteroids, follow the trail of cracked asteroids until they catch up with you.
Which is exactly how I would pirate if this game allowed that kind of gameplay.

Maybe if FD subbed everyone the Federal rank and credits for an A-rated Corvette, players would be a little more forgiving when it comes to them having not addressed this "feature" for four years.

It's not a sliding scale though. Outside of the threshold distance, no NPCs. Inside the threshold distance, NPCs every single time. Not always pirates, but always someone.

Agreed, to a point. I'd love to know what they detect when I log out and back in, though. No wake there.

Or if you've filled half your hold with ores when the server kicks you out and you have to log back in again.

The only problem with having the trigger for the NPC being the blast of a cored asteroid is then the forums would be full of complaints that every time they crack open an asteroid an NPC shows up. Heck they are upset one shows up now when they are empty, imagine the forum rage if the NPCs start turning up after the player has done some mining … ;)

I agree, this needs changing.

NPCs should be able to smell void-opals from 1000Ly away and come looking for you constantly while you're mining them, rather than just putting in a guest-appearance as soon as you switch instances.

Also, let's have some NPCs properly tooled-up for the job.
No more of these Adders and Eagles. Let's have FdLs and Annies. [up]

Fdev should find a better way to create challenge. Spawning a pirate all the time every time you drop in or log in is really really dumb and feels incredibly fake. They should get gud at game design.

I think OP will be not much happy with these latest suggestions :D ... especially if they will add hatch breakers for these incoming NPCs :p

Have anything valuable in your hold and the NPCs turn up. Or even not very good items but over a certain amount.
Just got to Tool up and let them have it and hopefully have some collection limpet mods with limpets to hoover up their remains.
If in a habited system hold them off long enough for the security to show up to help you out. Like run away a bit. or fly good.
I'm off back 2 mining after this exploration and unlock engineers trip to Colonia.

Have a good one o7 x

I can agree with that but what the OP is referring to is having the NPCs removed all together. He/she is literally complaining about having to put weapons on their ship.

Jesus Christ! Keyboard tough guy here. I not asking for something to be nerfed, I’m asking a bit of randomness. Like how life is....

Happy New Year... don’t be a “”
