OK, so I'm exploring...

I'm doing my first real exploration trip, and "a hoot" aptly describes it. :)

Decided to head to Colonia this morning. I just parked the Asp at Boewnst KS-S C20-959, and I'm tired. Max Distance From Start on my right panel says 17.5K right now.

I've never seen so many stars in the sky before...

Colonia is about the zone where you'll see the most stars in the sky, in the core it's not that full because most stars around Sag A* are not as bright, filter all but A, B & O stars and you'll see what I mean.

Will do. I couldn't target that cluster and so am heading to a nearby nebula before I drive on. Stopping for the night over the rings of this beautiful HMC world I discovered.

You are still exploring? It seems you went much further than 5000 ly, are you enjoying it so far?

Yeah, man, loving it. This is trip #2. I've got two passengers this time - one at 5k Ly and one at 15k Ly. On my way to the 15k stop, but decided to veer off a little and go check out the Eagle nebula. I figure it might be a good place to visit.

How far away is Eagle Nebula from Colonia? I figure another 6k Ly or so?

I'll be at Colonia shortly, and will likely spend a few days or weeks checking the place out. Then I think I'll head inward a bit more to check out the sights.

I could get comfortable doing this for a while. More relaxing than bounty hunting. :)

Feel free to drop a screen or two of your adventures on the thread :)

Yup. And to avoid space madness, bring an SRV and land occasionally on some planet, just because.

Make sure it's worth your time: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ation-values?p=5486920&viewfull=1#post5486920

Stuff is left unscanned because we wants the CR

(Now you'll no doubt tell me it was a terraformable ringed ELW :) )

Isn't that the point of it being an ELW? They aren't terraformable because they are already fit for human habitation. Also currently the biggest payout for discoveries are terraformable water worlds, go figure. second are ELW's and Ammonia Worlds, followed by terraformable high metal content planets. All others are pretty much worthless by comparison, but I still stop at the occasional gas giant or rich metal world for teh pix

Well I made it to Colonia. Took me most of the day yesterday and half of today, but I'm here. Now I'm going to go watch some golf and take a nap... ;)

And yes, I brought a SRV, because I will want to land occasionally and get a different view of things.
