Insta grats players should be happy now. OK, so be it - you deserved even more quick fun phew phew then its already in there...ok, being slightly sarcastic here ;) But whats in there for all others? For dedicated explorers, traders, miners ...
any player who still believes in a consistant, breathing and living ED universe, as it was originally meant to be?

Lol "serious gamers".

But yeah, said elsewhere multicrew is an interesting proposition for the lone serious gamer.

Character creation, well yeah, I understand both multicrew and char creation are dependencies and enablers for a bunch of other stuff.

And yeah I understand other stripes of serious gamer will be wanting multicrew etc but I do hope there's a few other bits and pieces in there too that I can make use of, QoL stuff etc..

My feeling is that 2.3 came a bit earlier than expected and it's likely there won't be much more, besides perhaps ship naming.

I will still find ways to enjoy the game. But doing that gets harder with every patch.

Title of thread has made a valid point (what about non-combat stuff) turn into a joke thread. Kudos Op :)

All I could think of:

The one thing that was confirmed today besides multicrew was the new camera system. If it's flexible we might see a whole bunch of amateur scifi movies using ED as a stage. Might be fun to do some stunt work for those :)

The professionally unemployed?

A serious game or applied game is a game designed for a primary purpose other than pure entertainment.[1] The "serious" adjective is generally prepended to refer to video games used by industries like defense, education,[2] scientific exploration, health care, emergency management, city planning, engineering, and politics.[3] The idea shares aspects with simulation generally, including flight simulation and medical simulation, but explicitly emphasizes the added pedagogical value of fun and competition.

In regard to ED I would see the definition of a "serious" gamer as a gamer who likes to be fully immersed (at least to a certain degree) in a consistant, in itself logical game universe, where as a "fun" gamer doesnt care about that feeling so much.

True, but they could have added the content differently ( like being able to board from the crewlounge, which would have been logical)

How does that make the game more fun?

For me "Content" isn't joining up with friends ... Content is stuff to "do" with said friends

Co-operating on the same ship (or in the ship's fighter) in a battle is something to "do" with friends, that the game hasn't offered before.

A gamer who wants depth rather than instant gratification.
Thats my take on it

What is "depth" to you? It's a subjective word that is very different to each individual

How does that make the game more fun?

It doesn't and only serves as a time waster. In this scenario, instant transfer is better, and if you want realism, then you and your friends go meet up at a station. Otherwise, you're forcing your boring vision of the game on everyone else.

How does that make the game more fun?
Thats the old question, and I gather you want an earnest answer to that. Of course, whats fun and what not is very subjective and not the same for everyone. But for me any game mechanic that helps me to feel like I am actually there (no, I dont want to wait weeks till my escape pod is bein found) and which makes practical sense enhances the depth of the game and makes it more rich & living, hence more fun.

Awesome post, +1 rep.

Nothing. There is no such thing as a "serious gamer". Why would devs waste their time making content for a made up term?

Somewhere you have to make a distinction. Every product is bein produced for a target group. Why not call the gamer who likes a consistant , logical game universe with immersion, lore & storytelling a "serious" gamer in comparison to a gamer who wants instant gratification (aka "fun" gamer). None is better then the other, but as a developer you have to choose your target group to make a successful game, if you try to mix playstyles on and on it will be a mess in the end IMHO.
