Okay Dev's: Why do i have to scan a ship for a bounty, whilst the KWS Scan is shared?

That's not how crime works, and that is just plain lazy programming, and you are justifying something with a strawman argument.

When someone KWS scans it shares it with THE ENTIRE WING. You need to do the same with normal scanning especially with bounty hunting on Wanted ship. If you can have the KWS share the scan, there is NO REASON that a wanted scan can not be shared with the rest of the wing.

I am sorry but if my friend is under attack, I am not going to wait for a friggan' scan to be done, I am doing to attack that guy to kill him fast so my friend or wing man doesn't die.

Under most circumstances a KWS scan is not necessary. You can open fire after a normal scan, which is quite fast.
You will not get any extra bounties then of course.
In an anarchy you are free to kill without scans, but you won't get money then either.

Shared scans for groups would be nice though.
I would also like to be able to instruct my npc SLF to scan ships in an area.
That would be extremely useful.

I didn’t realise that this was a thing but it sounds very stupid to each have to scan the same target. How very silly.

And, yes indeed, KWS should happen automatically once in range of a targetted ship.

Yea I think so. It's to make the process into an active challenge rather than a passive one. From a lore perspective I'd always imagined that the regular scan is you're receiving an always-on self-identification transmission *from* the ship, whereas a KWS is scanning everything on the ship ("hacking" it in a sense,) in order to 100% verify and record that this ship really is this particular ship.

I have been winged up for most of this bounty hunting CG. My wing members can scan my target and it will show wanted for me even if I don't face the target.

But this, I think, is a case of simply having to think of too many things at once, while designing something, and overlooking the obvious.
It's easy to be a backseat driver.

We're talking about a regular scan. (Or at least that's where the conversation started). If you shoot a wanted ship before you've scanned it (as in, before your HUD shows it as "wanted"), then your attack is illegal. Even though the ship you're firing on is a wanted criminal; until you have scanned it you do not have the authority to fire on it. Ok maybe dumb but kinda makes sense.

Here's where it gets extra dumb: if you are in a wing, and your friend scans a wanted ship; *he* may fire on it but you may not fire on it until you have completed your own separate scan. This is dumb and annoying from a practical standpoint, but also it's inconsistent with the way Wings work most of the time, where your scan data is generally shared and synchronized across all members of the wing.

The only reason anyone initially brought up the KWS is to highlight this inconsistency: if one member of a wing performs a KWS on a target, *all* members of the wing become eligible to receive those additional bounty vouchers. So this is one example (though there are many more) of Wingmembers being able to share and synchronize their scanner activities across the wing.

Reading the FAQ there is nothing in it to suggest what the OPs suggests
Only that if you shot a wanted ship before a scan resolves then it is assault, as it has been.
Nothing about scans not being shared amongst wings anymore.

Confirm your targets are wanted before engaging with a complete scan.

Nothing has changed, and still makes sense.

Try selecting a wanted ship you have not scanned so it only shows the ship name and no other info. Have your wingman scan the target and you will see their name show up, and then their wanted status a few seconds later.

Agreed, a shared scan would be very useful. Just did some CG bounty hunting in a wing yesterday, and we recognized that this would be something nice to have.
