Just noticed Quatermass 2 is on BBC Iplayer.

It got me wondering, I remember watching the 1st Quatermass film when I was a kid and loved it.

So has anyone else got some favourites like these old classics?

Quatermass 2 was not a favourite but Quatermass and the Pit was. I also liked Forbidden Planet and both the Doctor Who films.

Does The Avengers count as SciFi? Probably not, despite the odd farfetched scenario. Honour Blackman and Diana Rigg era were before my time but I caught them a bit later - jumping forward to Sapphire and Steel (connection - Joanna Lumley, also in The New Avengers). Now that was a spooky bit of SciFi.

And just realised that Forbidden Planet does not belong in the British part of the category.

Yeah! Space 1999! I remember having a couple of the die-cast models of the Eagle ship. Wish I'd hung on to those. Probably worth a fortune.

Oh me too. Hair driers and kitchen utensils masquerading as space ships and sidearms. Snarky terrorist dialogue. Stroppy Orac. Supreme Servelan. And lots leather!

I wish they would show Quatermass IV with Sir John Mills and the "Planet People" Loved that in the 70s

Sapphire and Steel scared me witless as a Kid I still haven't got my wits back!

I remember the Tomorrow people as well, that was great back then.

Something I remember as well as a kid in the 70's.

There was a tv program's when it end credits started rolling it had two people in silhouette on a boat going off in a partially flooded cave like tunnel which had a light at the end.

Can't remember if it was a Sci-fi type program or not, but it's occasionally bugged me for years.

Funny i bought all the Quatermass Dvds sometime back and still not watched them yet! am still working through Breaking Bad box sets so maybe after!

Yeah, it was "Tripods". Season two ended on a cliffhanger and in typical BBC style they pulled the plug on the concluding third season.
