Just noticed Quatermass 2 is on BBC Iplayer. :D

It got me wondering, I remember watching the 1st Quatermass film when I was a kid and loved it.

So has anyone else got some favourites like these old classics?

Quatermass 2 was not a favourite but Quatermass and the Pit was. I also liked Forbidden Planet and both the Doctor Who films.

Does The Avengers count as SciFi? Probably not, despite the odd farfetched scenario. Honour Blackman and Diana Rigg era were before my time but I caught them a bit later - jumping forward to Sapphire and Steel (connection - Joanna Lumley, also in The New Avengers). Now that was a spooky bit of SciFi.

Agreed on the Sapphire and Steel spookiness.

And just realised that Forbidden Planet does not belong in the British part of the category.

Sapphire and Steel scared me witless as a Kid I still haven't got my wits back!

I remember the Tomorrow people as well, that was great back then.

Something I remember as well as a kid in the 70's.

There was a tv program's when it end credits started rolling it had two people in silhouette on a boat going off in a partially flooded cave like tunnel which had a light at the end.

Can't remember if it was a Sci-fi type program or not, but it's occasionally bugged me for years.

It wasn't British, but I spent too much time watching Lost in Space as a kid.

Will Robinson, Zachery Smith and the Robot.. classic TV

What was the programme on the BBC where they had aliens who were in control of the planet and controlled people with a metal cap on their heads?

Yeah, it was "Tripods". Season two ended on a cliffhanger and in typical BBC style they pulled the plug on the concluding third season.

Does "Button Moon" count as sci-fi?
