Old content getting another polish

So Power Play has been brought to the forefront again.

Perhaps it's just me but why is this getting another polish.
The answer I believe is they have no real content coming, so they revert to unwanted old content and pop a forum post sure to cause contraversy.

Fiddling with PP is just pathetic waste of time.

Maybe because the whole premise of season three was to polish the old content.

So I fail to see the issue.

They explicitly stated that 3.x would focus heavily on polish.

My take on it is, Frontier never really believed anyone would do it anyway! PP in principal complicated and demanding is nullified in an instant, you Sir describe it perfect. What where they thinking?


Well I am an idiot, basking with her Glory for 136 weeks and one day now all alone with her in that marvelous tub, scrubbing each others back and what do I get? MY Hammers alright, while every one smarter then me flies ships
busting with marvels.

As for the communication here, its great to see, actually we are - eventually - getting somewhere ....even PP might gets part of an actual game right?

But wasnt the whole Beyond thing ment to address core game play, rather than add new content. Not saying its right, and I agree you cant polish a turd no matter how hard you try.

I for one am happy they address mistakes and try to get things going. Would love to get new stuff into Elite, but what is it worth, if core game mechanics do not work like intended?

Mark my words, PP going open only will end up greatly improving the game within a year of it release even for players who never play PP.

I don't think you can polish up excrement. You might be able paint it gold though, depending on consistency. :D

Or it will be exactly the same, with only the same low % of players getting involved as do now. Wasting the Dev's resources that would be better spent adding content to the game which adds value to EVERYONE not just a select few!

The community has been asking for a Powerplay overhaul since 3 years on a regular basis. After space legs, atmos and exploration improvements it's probably the most discussed feature of Elite. Just because you aren't personally interested it doesn't mean that it should be abandoned and forgotten. Adding some meat to it would benefit the game greatly since a lot of CMDRs are asking for ways to shape and influence the state of the galaxy. The basic idea of Powerplay is pretty good, it's the implementation that needs to get addressed.

If you take a look at the different groups and playstyles within the Elite Dangerous community you'll realise that a feature which pleases all folks doesn't exist. Some people don't want space legs, others aren't interested in NPC wings and a whole chunk of players isn't interested in multiplayer. That's how it is.

While I could not blink an eye for the sake of PP, there's one reason why it is still interesting to everyone, including those who don't care about it: good ol' Li :D
If the rest makes the joy of some folks, more power (huhu) to them, I would not stand between them and their fun.

Seriously what have we got so far?

A over-convoluted C&P system, so convoluted in fact it requires diagrams and flow-charts to keep it somewhat simple. Polish???

A messed up KWS that now gives Bounties for factions. However there is no way in game to know where those factions are so you end up losing 25% at if the IF. Polish??

A new Grind-a-geer. So Polished it forgets the blueprint you just got to L5 30 seconds ago, because it's now being used on a new module! Polish??


It seems one man's garbage is another man's 'polish'
