Old content getting another polish

Bugs? Oh Polish! Soz..

Seriously what have we got so far?

A over-convoluted C&P system, so convoluted in fact it requires diagrams and flow-charts to keep it somewhat simple. Polish???
Really. The C&P is easy to understand.

A messed up KWS that now gives Bounties for factions. However there is no way in game to know where those factions are so you end up losing 25% at if the IF. Polish??
Being fixed in 3.1. Move along.

A new Grind-a-geer. So Polished it forgets the blueprint you just got to L5 30 seconds ago, because it's now being used on a new module! Polish??
A purely optional past time you can look at anytime you dock at a station with a tech broker. Not too sure why you would grind for it. But thats your choice.

It seems one man's garbage is another man's 'polish'
If you find it garbage, don't do it.

Or it will be exactly the same, with only the same low % of players getting involved as do now. Wasting the Dev's resources that would be better spent adding content to the game which adds value to EVERYONE not just a select few!

Agreed, PP will always be a bolt on to the rest of the game no matter how much they polish it. Once you try it you can easily tell that it's almost like a separate module to the rest of the game, that's why it's so easy to ignore and forget it even exists.

Moving it to open won't make a difference, all it will do is stop the small amount of existing players from exploiting solo mode to flip systems.

And does anyone care really, nothing changes in the game other than text information when a system is flipped - it's not like flipped systems start selling different goods or offer new ships or have new mission types is it?

It's pretty pointless IMO.

It’s just a part of the game that hasn’t yet received its addition of new bugs and resurrection of old bugs with 3.0. Gotta make it match the rest.

I do, I don't

:D NMS has my interest now.. Exploration, Trading, Missions, Engineering, Space Legs, Buggies, Base Building, personal Freighters. In fairness E-D wins on graphics, but NMS beats it to pulp on depth. (Personal Opinion) And look at the difference in Dev Team Sizes..

Pew Pew in E-D, the rest in NMS or Eve

They explicitly stated that 3.x would focus heavily on polish.

But why Polish? What about other languages in Eastern Europe?

What about a fossilized Dinosaur turd.

"Another" polish? It hasn't been touched save a single bandaid-ish fix by the devs since it came out. If the devs didn't touch anything after initial deployment, everything would look like CQC.

PowerPlay despite some commanders snaring at it is quite important for the game, as it creates meta narrative. So seeing it getting some changes is actually very welcome news, I actually thought it won't happen due of their schedule being full already. It doesn't address everything but this seems like minimal setup which they managed to squeeze in.

Still not a fan of 'Open only' idea, I already provided reasons why I don't support it, but overall most of changes seem well argued and some of them might even interest me.

So Power Play has been brought to the forefront again.

Perhaps it's just me but why is this getting another polish.
The answer I believe is they have no real content coming, so they revert to unwanted old content and pop a forum post sure to cause contraversy.

Fiddling with PP is just pathetic waste of time.

Actually, it's because they told us that they were going to improve existing features in this series of updates - hence why season 3.0 is not a paid for season in it's own right.

Au contraire mon ami. Introducing PowerPlay (Risk in Space) to all modes was a huge mistake from the get go. Creating an epic setting for universal player vs player conflict within Elite: Dangerous and then leaving it wide open to fifth column shadow sniping (some might even call it *whisper it* griefing) was the almost immediate downfall of PowerPlay. Keeping PowerPlay in a setting where all players are equal (same mode) is the only way to save a brilliant idea.

There is hope for PowerPlay yet. :)

Wow the forums are a joy at the moment!

Maybe Squadrons will enhance group play and thus enhance powerplay.
Maybe everyone's been asking for them to look at it since it launched.

next thing they will be putting bots in CQC and you will say 'what's the point'

Also maybe they are stalling for time to develop other content to sell to us ;)

there is a saying...

you cant polish a turd..... but you can roll it in glitter...

Welcome to Powerplay 2.0
