Old content getting another polish

Agreed, PP will always be a bolt on to the rest of the game no matter how much they polish it. Once you try it you can easily tell that it's almost like a separate module to the rest of the game, that's why it's so easy to ignore and forget it even exists.

Moving it to open won't make a difference, all it will do is stop the small amount of existing players from exploiting solo mode to flip systems.

And does anyone care really, nothing changes in the game other than text information when a system is flipped - it's not like flipped systems start selling different goods or offer new ships or have new mission types is it?

It's pretty pointless IMO.

As I’ve said a few times now, I’m glad they’re moving PP to Open, now it only infests 1 out of 3 modes rather than all of them.

...somehow, I am both completely perplexed and at the same exact moment, not surprised at all. *sigh*
Well, that has basically been the reaction to all of 3.0

So why should Powerplay be an exception?

Tibet they're not even listening anymore. Iraq'd up two loads of missiles to get their attention; Jamaica to be enough?

Dang it. Iran out of puns...

Did we Siriusly run out of countries to pun with?

I need a drink....just hope I don't get a Hanover...

The only people surpirsed by the reactions of others are people who have extremely low expectations of the game and are happy with anything thrown their way. We don't need to listen to people who are pleased by literally anything - that doesn't make a good game.

Maybe it's, just maybe, it's because there's been a lot of begging Fdev for years to improve exploration, trading, and mining as well, and at the FX17 it was promisesd for 2018 that this would happen, while Power play wasn't promised to be fixed but now is addressed before the other things that were promised to be worked on. I'm glad that they're moving PP to Open. That's the way it should be, even though I mostly play PvE, it still makes a lot of sense. But it also makes sense that do something more interesting with 400 billion star system galaxy than just jumping around, as well.

After some clever recon work, I learned what was recently delivered to Frontier HQ on a covered flatbed:

Tons of it. Get comfortable, we're in this for the long haul.

So Power Play has been brought to the forefront again.

Perhaps it's just me but why is this getting another polish.
The answer I believe is they have no real content coming, so they revert to unwanted old content and pop a forum post sure to cause contraversy.

Fiddling with PP is just pathetic waste of time.

I think you are the example person that they are hoping to make PP more appealing for. You're not the only one that doesn't engage. Many don't even join a power. Also they are hoping to make PP an Open Mode only feature and to do that they have to make it more appealing, or else you just cut out all the solo players who had access to it for no reason and to further diminish the feature. So they probably have to make it more Open mode oriented and rewarding/ compelling. I personally think it's kind of brilliant. There's a lot of things the above could right. Griefing, and making progress for expansion even harder. With Solo mode people can just kind of peacefully and unhinderingly progress. You need more players hindering the progress of players of opposing powers. This will also hopefully give griefers a little more objective, other than "I screwed him just because I could."
