Old 'fixed' bugs continue to re-appear

Horizons.

I have mentioned this a few times and heres another

The bug that caused modules on the modules tab to NOT update when swapping ships is here still
And then swapping out a couple of modules and now I fly a ship that displays a different ships modules and only a few that are actually in the ship..

enjoy.

This is very frustrating.

It shows that the build configuration is in a complete mess. The frustrating thing is that in terms of software engineering, this isn't a legacy issue. It can be fixed immediately at any time, just by saying "This is the baseline build. Code from older builds will not be imported into it."

Come on devs, start devving right.

Yes, in my work we had management mandating Subversion because it neatly ticked off a QA issue. "Yay, we now have CM". The fact that we engineers were saying, "But it doesn't work!" wouldn't move them.
I can feel your pain too.
A few times i had to port the svn repository to git through gitsvn to properly merge some messy branches situation and force the result back to the svn repository tampering with the svn properties....

remember the fix we got for it?
swap ships, now shows last ships modules and this ships modules, then about a 3/4 or more second delay whilst the routine forces the display to collect the correct modules for you.
Every time I look at the modules tab first time for any given ship it still freezes(1-2 seconds) while it re-does the modules. then, after the fix and still, it has never worked the way it did before it became broken.
After the first view it then displays faster afterwards but with a noticeable tiny pause.
This to me appears as though the problem was never solved so a new routine was created to force another routine to do it immediately before the display changes anything.

This got me into the habit of always checking the modules tab before exiting a station just to get it past the initial 1-2 second delay which is not nice to have if you are being attacked and did not view the modules before hand at least once.

I know many things can cause delays of all kinds anywhere in the game. This is consistent and for me has never been non-existant since the issue started.
and since EDO, getting to see it like this makes it fairly clear it was never fixed, just taped over sorta thing.

This Is The way.
love that show.

Yep, it's clear there isn't automated testing and a backlog of created test cases for past fixes available to be run quickly when a new build is available. That's what every company I enjoyed working at seems to do, makes things so much easier for everyone. The bad/stressful ones that had problems like this pop-up didn't have automated testing facilities either, you just tested what you could in the time available and then went live and crossed your fingers..... seems VERY similar to this game's releases.....
I fear their "testing utilities" includes the game itself and that is it. So when you have FDev openly saying things like "I don't play power play" you quickly understand why these bugs come about. They aren't looking at everything..... we the players are the true testers.

Speaking of past bugs - ammo reloading on an instance chance was one that has been reintroduced several times and was again with Odyssey. It was only just fixed with update 6.

Last time I got the lingering black screen, though that was also listed as fixed.

Aaaaany instances of this continuing (and I'm sadly seeing a fair few right now) I am MASSIVELY interested in some like...more help nailing it down (so sorry to ask).
What I'm specifically looking for at the moment is anyone who might have exited after using the Suit extras shop at time of exiting or near to exiting. This is so tricky...

I'm pretty sure I was at the shop in the last... 3-4 minutes? I have to check whether I went back to the ship or just exited the game after leaving the shop. I will test this a few times tonight.

Troubleshooting intermittent bugs is just the worst ;) So satisfying when the puzzle is eventually solved though, keep it up Sally and good luck ;)

And testing on a Wednesday..from my perspective, there is always a certain time on Wednesday before the weekly maintenance where trying to log out does not work.
This has been ongoing for so long I am used to it happening on any/all my computers.
test for it after the maintenance or before Wednesday's , so that is not in the equation.

This is Horizons only for me BTW, so for me, suit is not part of the equation. and yes I have had it happen a couple times since it was listed as fixed.
I have EDO, but I only use it to view and test some things, then I CLOG and go back to Horzons. because EDO does take too long to shut down. So I have a macro that kills the launcher and the game, so I don't have to waste time getting back into Horizons.

Is there a possibility that my update no. 6 failed? I had to download (another?) update today! And I'm positive I updated the game before last time I played.

Anyway, updated the game and tested at least 5 times (each type of exit) by exiting the game on-foot without visiting the store, from the ship and after visiting the store and going through the items there. No lingering black screens, the longest wait was the first one when I didn't even move before exiting.

Sally, don't know if it can be of any help, but one thing i'm noticing very often upon exit, is that the game shows for few second a frame, from several minutes before i actually exited the game. For example i exit the game while landed at a station and inside my ship. I exit the game and i'm presented with this still frame (if i was in the concourse before, it's an image from there, or it might be me approaching the station, it depends from what i was doing before exiting the game).

It looks like old frames do not get flushed out of the rendering pipeline or memory. Sorry for the non technical explanation, not that tech savvy
