Omega Mining bait and switch - contacts

I literally checked omega mining for interstellar factions last night. Turns out they had one, so I thought, great, I'll come out and clear that 400cr bounty I got somehow. Pay extra (a lot) to transfer my ship out, check today.... No more interstellar faction contact. It was showing up in inara as of yesterday.... what gives? Feels like I got hustled. :-O

Interstellar factors was there last night. 100% I saw it.

There was, but Omega Sector VE-Q b5-15 bumped up to Medium Security with the Thursday tick. So no more IF - they only operate in the shadows of low or no security.

Pretty reasonable, all in all. It would be shocking for a remote outpost to have a huge, long anticipated influx of visitors, and not beef up security for the occasion.

are you saying contacts are influenced by the bgs? or is that just an rp way to say "yes you got screwed"

No RP, contacts are influenced by BGS. Most obviously when lockdown disables most station services, but there are various lesser effects like this one too.

Mind you, I don't think we know whether the system security level was raised through normal BGS means, or manually by FDev. So maybe you also got screwed, just with one layer of indirection.

So apparently it's just tied to low system security so that makes me feel a little better. (Maologhin said exactly this but I took what he said as more an to statement when he said it :-O) Was able to swing by Attenboroughs to pay it off (I think it was around 1200ly away), not great but not terrible

Just hand yourself in. The nearest detention centre is just 18 ly away at Omega Sector OD-S b4-0.

Not sure what that means, I went to the detention center but once I landed there were no options to do that. Is there some interaction I'm missing? I know if you die with a bounty you spawn at the nearest detention center and then you pay your fines but afaik you can't just show up and do the same?

Hand yourself in at the Omega mining station

You "hand yourself in" at the station where you are a miscreant.

Good to know, thanks. Unfortunately that ship was wanted before I had it shipped to Omega so I imagine that would mean flying back to the bubble. I'm not sure why you wouldn't always just use interstellar factors since there is no teleport after the fact, but either way seems pretty simple now.

I'll let Para answer, as I would be too sarcastic - gl Para!

... I'll see your too sarcastic and raise the bid to .... Nope, I will just pass.

Ok, I'll bite.

WHY? Why, by all the spheres of Yog-Sothoth, would you transfer a WANTED ship this far out?! Yeah, ok, you thought there was a Factor available. Still, unless every suitable ship in your collection was wanted, that was a risky move.

At this point your best option is still to hand yourself in. Fly into the station and shoot at the little buildings to get the attention of the authority contact. They'll sort you out straightaway.

Honestly? Because I was bored and wanted to bounty hunt. The whole thing ended up being a mess but yeah the only reason I pulled the trigger was because I thought it would be easy to clear the fine with if at the station.

On a happy positive note, I've decided to bring my chieftain the rest of the way and leave the phantom behind, so it's good I brought it out :D

P.s.- I already cleared the bounty at Attenboroughs watch
