OMG!!! New rift user

Love my Warthog too - particuarly with the analog stick I modded into the throttle for lateral thrust and percise docking controls.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/289426-Warthog-Mod-Project

x55 stick was donated to another commander and replaced with a Warthog shortly after I completed the throttle mod.

Wasn't of course trying to offend anybody owning and liking their Warthog and I totally respect the investment they have made. No doubt people who like it enjoy it very much - it's an outstanding product imho. Also, excellent mod, sir :)

Anyways, I guess these are pretty much personal preferences, so no need to debate. I'll be trying stuff for fun (which is something I've been waiting for very long as an Xbox user). Perhaps I end up with Hotas, perhaps even Warthog, too early to tell. At the moment for example this looks interesting to my needs and likings: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=vkb-sim-kosmosima-space-simulation-grip

I might be also odd that I like to use pitch and roll with my left hand, which tends to go back to RC planes etc. but that's another story...

Awesome mod sir.

The analog stick was what really made me decide to go for the CH Pro-throttle
The resolution on this stick is rather low but with an easily set curve ramp I have both fine control for my soft <6ms landings and full thrust power for combat.
If I'm missing anything it would be between the 50% and 100% thrust mark, don't really miss it though.

Thanks :D

I use a little app that lets me adjust the curves of that analog stick, then have Elite setup so it sees the analog without any curves during normal flight, then during landing sees the virtual device with the curves adjusted for finer movement.

Using direct and adjusted like this is a very smart move. Kudos!

Good to see you are still around Cataclysm72 - I would agree with Cylonsurfer that having an analogue stick on the throttle really helps for lateral and vertical thrust movements - here's is my throttle mod in action:

Nice throttle!

During normal flight I only have lateral thrust mapped to the analog stick as I use the toe brakes on my Slaw BF109 pedals for vertical thrust (and accelerate / brake on the SRV). The same principal applies to the toe brakes, full non curve during normal flight, curve applied during landing for those nice gentle touch downs  During landing forward / back thrust is applied to the analog stick with curves. I only wish I could do the same when the cargo scoop deploys!

Using direct and adjusted like this is a very smart move. Kudos!

Thanks :)

Vorpx is at the basest a hack mod for games and has very variable success.

The devs for SC have themselves stated VR is on the backburner and to not hold your breath for it.
Which is PR speak for "Eat biowaste and stop nagging.".
I am very pleased I never gave them any money.

sad but true....

https://www.roadtovr.com/star-citizen-senior-dev-vr-support-dont-hold-breath/

confirmed by our very own Ben Parry... its not off the list of things "to consider" but it is not a high priority and the thing with VR is, it is NOT something you can easily add later, good VR needs to be considered from the ground up and have your game built around it really. (there are a few exceptions where shoe horning has worked out ok)

I kind of didn't like HOTAS (at least the Warthog one) so I'd be more willing to try out dual stick and some derivatives... Also, could be that i just need to find a HOTAS that I like, for example VKB offering might end-up closer to my taste. But let's see. I'll maybe write something after I've been experimenting a bit.

I've got a VPC Mongoos T-50 on order, should arrive in the next week or two, They have a left handed stick, too... I'll be doing a review once I give it a good run.

Currently running a Warthog stick with a CH Pro Throttle and VKB T-Rudder MKIII pedals.

And a Rift...

Now, if anyone has suggestions on how to stop the damn thing fogging up, it's annoying to have to take it off and clean the lenses all the time. Argh...

I bought the velour face pad from VR-Cover, and it pushes the Rift off of the face a little more than the stock foam interface. Since then, I've had less of a problem with it fogging. So that's one idea.

The Warthog Project discussion is locked..? WT...

May just have to give this a go. Thanks!
I have a little desk fan blowing at my face which seems to sort out the fogging issue.
Not an option in my case, sadly, I don't have a desk! Just a TV handing off a mount on the wall, and my Teh Awesome™ CMDR chair...

always warm the lenses a bit before playing. if your pc has been on a while the exhaust from the back you your case can do it. if not, if you have a radiator on just put your rift upside down on that for a few mins (not too long to damage anything)

also part of it is getting your vr legs! when you are new to VR you tend to get a bit clammy , this means more water in your hmd so more fogging.

once you get more used to it you will sweat less.

ohh and never play just after a shower if you can help it. if my hair is damp i have a devil of a job with fogging. all of the rest of the time tho, very little issue at all, maybe a quick wipe with my glasses cleaner once after the 1st 5 mins of use if i didnt take advice #1 and warm the lenses before using. i definitely notice my "not VR experienced" mates fog the damn thing up summat terrible however when they use it.

Oooh, that looks like an interesting stick, I have been curious about a new one, although my CH fighterstick is doing just brilliantly still.
I have a hankering for something new, and I'm not too sure if the Warthog would be worth it.

Post is useless without proper detailed throttle pics!

*hint*

I didn't want to hijack this thread with many pics Zeeman, so if you don't mind the added clicking, here's a link to my cockpit build thread and I've put some photos up with explanation. The analogue stick install was only one of many mods made to the old Cougar TQS - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/185415-Its-Begun-Because-You-can-t-Have-Too-Many-Cockpit-Build-Threads-Can-You?p=5792536&viewfull=1#post5792536

Of course the other videos in that thread also show all the other custom panels etc. and how I made them (I also designed and built the CNC router mostly to make custom cockpit parts, but I use it for many other things as well outside of its original purpose).
