On behalf of pirates everywhere...

Please, stop associating us with the kind of people who derive pleasure from other peoples misery.

Somebody interdicts you, they scan you, they tell you to surrender cargo. <- That is a pirate.

Somebody interdicts you, they open fire immediately, they destroy you without a word. <- That is NOT a pirate. I'll leave it to you to decide what it is they are, but they are not pirates.

I hope that clears things up.

I do a bit of pirating and never open fire before I scan the target and see if they have anything worth taking. Half of the time the stuff they have isn't worth taking so I just let them go.
I hate griefers who just want to kill others for "fun?" No fun for the poor sod who loses everything for no reason.

Murder penalties should be harsh, pirates dont murder very often (the few times they need to set an example they can take the penalties).

Also somebody that kills you after you dropped your cargo<-- Pirate.

Dont know where or when people started believing pirates are honourable folk, or that they follow any recognisable code, but I think sooner or later people will learn.

Anyone that takes my cargo from me by force is still some lazy pilot that wants the easy way. So you get nothing. Not now, not never. Pirating is wrong anyway you slice it. Your labels like another said is pointless since you all are the same thing.

So prepared to see the back of my ship as it flies off. Or the front of my weapons as they fire back at you. I will never submit. I will never surrender. I will never give you my cargo.

In what way is it the easy way? It's more challenging and pays less. Can't really figure out the "easy" bit.

While i think that interdiction is ridiculous and absurdly stupid and should be removed i will say this. Play solo. I have yet to find any reason as a trader to play in open mode beyond playing with friends that i have yet to make. And until they come up with a more open chat system will likely never make. All traders should play solo. I will say that i respect bounty hunters. FAR more then i'd ever respect pirates/murderers/trolls/grievers/Dbags looking for giggles.

Okay... Its not easy. Still its criminal and not the right thing to do. RPing is okay, but this? No... it's hard enough to make credits mining. I don't need some player coming into my belt and threatening to take my ore after I spent a few hours collecting it.

This game is so dumb, it's created people who think that if they are getting interdicted by another CMDR in open play, that CMDR is either a greifer or a lazy player?!?!?

I mean, what kind of broken thinking is that ?!

All the people who are commenting about the game and/or it's features in a negative light are not just idiots or COD players. We are not seeing just a hand full of "bad" reviews. This game is broken on a fundamental level and it shows in the forums.

FD, pull your thumbs out of your ear holes !

So, you gain money and exploit the riches of the station, leaving people all over the galaxy starving, dieing and you even start inner wars?

You, my man are way worse than those so called pirates, you make millions, if not billions suffer, unlike those said pirates only hurt a couple pilots here and there.

You are disgusting, and are the lowesr life form on the galaxy. You shall be smithed for your actions.

(Its all a point of view, what for some is evil, for others is the holy war)

I completely agree with this. I only play open to try and make friends. Otherwise I stick to solo. No reason to encounter Dbags trying to hustle me for my cargo. Or the obvious griefer just out to blow up my ship for a cheap laugh at my expense.

I mine btw. I don't trade. It's hard enough making credits without some Dbag trying to hustle it from me.

Why can't people... you know just be non hostile towards one another? Must we always be at each others throats? Pulling someone out of supercruise is a hostile act. You are forcefully making a player doing something they don't want to do.

In my oppinion trading in elite without pirates is very boring. I am trading myself and have been interdicted some times by other players. The "real" pirates communicate with you and you have a chance to "trade" with them... e.g. "I'll give you 10 tons of this unabandoned or I give you 5 tons abandoned". For me this is quite some fun. They dont take everything as they dont want to destroy other players fun in trading as they make their money with other players cargo... In the way I mentioned we have both our fun, I have enough profit, the pirate has his/her share and trading is a bit more exciting as I still try to avoid interdiction. They have no use of it to make every player trade in solo mode. Piracy would be obsolete. This again would make the galaxy in open play empty.. Without piracy, trading in Elite is nothing more than a truck simulator in space...

I had my first player pirate contact last night interdicted me and demanded 10 tons so I opened fire I like to think we crashed into each other while jousting (both in Cobras) after impact he disappeared and left me with 8% hull and no canopy I loved it I didn't get his bounty 400 cr so I dont think he exploded on impact. I'd like to echo previous posters elite wouldn't work without pirates, but there was no way I was handing over 10 tons of gold to a similarly specked pirate. I think we were in lhs3505 late yesterday evening get so if you are reading thanks for the experience .

Man, it's a golden age of piracy for us. An average trader flies shieldless, never watches the scanner. But I have to say the bounty hunters manned up real hard. Yesterday I was being hunted all day long. They even started entering wakes to help robbed traders. So props to them.
