On-foot Combat - Tips for Noobs?

I'd like to do more of this, but I've never been a great FPS guy. I don't mind going 'unconscious', but respawning a billion miles away is tedious. What is a way to do combat more quickly?

CZ are a good way to practice. If you want to start working on mats gathering bring your Scarab to clear most of the settlement guards and then clear the shieldless employees with your gun...close to no risk.

I have never had so much notoriety than in EDO :ROFLMAO:

There's a very good and long thread about this topic, by the way:

Also, we have a group dedicated to on-foot combat. You and everybody are welcome to join us on Discord, will be more than happy to show you the ropes!

Stick em with the pointy end.

But really, you're gonna need to upgrade your suit of choice to be combat ready, or be really good at running away and coming back for shots. I never leave my Maverick suit, I like to break into things way too much to ever change suits. So I have it modded for fast shield recharge. You might want the more tanky Dominator suit that can take more hits, and mod it for the shield regen.

For weapons, if you're someone who isn't very comfy with FPS combat you can't go wrong with a fully upgraded Aphelion, that's the one that looks like a pincer. At G5 it's deadly at any range. Give it a better scope and your other mods of choice and you can shred shields and kill scavs with relative ease. The eclipse is great also though it's a more up close weapon.

Always make sure you have shield projectors too. Just don't get too comfortable in them as NPCs with shotguns will rush you and ruin your day and it feels super bad to die in your own dome :(

Some basic tips:

Shields are a thing, make sure yours is switched on when people start shooting at you.

There is no shame in running away when things get dicey.

If you aren't making a shot or successfully hiding, keep moving (preferably in an erratic manner) it's harder to hit a moving target.

It is a good idea to hide behind things (unless they are red explosive barrels).

With the exception of rocket launchers, it is better to land your shots on the enemy, not just in their general vicinity.

If possible, keep things topped up (if you see a charge point or ammo box use it, if you just had to use a battery or first aid kit try and replace it)

If you aren't in a combat zone, dealing with a target discretely may make things easier (i.e. try not to set off the alarm and try to avoid being seen to kill)

If you are in situation where violence is inevitable, shoot first (with the caveat that you have to hit the target for this to be effective)

Thank you all so much for your responses! I'm going to not have as much time to play during the holidays with family coming in, but I'm going to get in what I can. I'll definitely hit that Discord server once I've got some time.

Thanks so much!
