On its way!

+1 Excellent purchase! :) First thing... Go exploring for a bit to get used to it and find your VR legs.... It's beautiful and quiet and you can sit and watch the universe in awe and it'll give you time to tinker and get settings right.... Then, go into a war zone and just delight in the ease in which you can keep track of targets :)
Never regretted buying mine.

have you ever seen an oculus personally? if not,...oh boy! you're in for a treat. my advice would be to stay away from the majority of vr demos as they can/will make you sick. stick with ED till you're "broke in". ED is VERY easy on the vr beginner.

....and definitely DON'T start your Rift life with Alien Isolation!....................... you'll your pants AND get sick!

Welcome to the club! I'm sure you'll love it, just give it time. It takes a while to get over the low resolution but once you are over that....there is no turning back. At least for me...just can't play on a flat screen anymore.

Thanks guys. It's out for delivery today, so I'm sure the day will drag. Then I'll be rushing to get the boys to bed so I can send a few hours setting up in peace.

Hey Bevz, I've been exploring for the past couple of weeks after kitting out my Asp. As you say, great opportunity to get into it.

Beavis, I've never had chance to use the Oculus personally. Closest I've come is Google Cardboard with my Xperia Z2... which to be honest was pretty amazing.

I'm off to the US in 5 weeks, and plan to bring back a 980GTX to replace my 770GTX (save me over £100).
I was going to say the Rift is going to cost me quite a bit, but it is actually ED. 1 week into the game, I bought the X52 Pro. Now the Rift, and soon the 980GTX. Will it end?

Haha. This game can really encourage you to spend for the full experience. It's worth it though.

The way I managed to convince my wife that I should be allowed to spend that money in myself rather than elsewhere was due to Christmas. My presents included:

A toy for kids
10 tea bags
A Tom Cruise keyring

I'm in my 40's and the Rift was a Christmas present to myself.

Anyway, enjoy the wow factor of VR. It really is a game changer and as already said, it can be very hard to go back to flat screen afterwards. ED has some quirks when it comes to performance but it's still the best VR experience around.

it's pretty crazy dude, you're gonna dig it

Be prepared to mess with your settings and stuff a whole lot though. Good enough is never good enough...

Welcome, as others have said, first it was the rift, then a whole new machine for me, 980 GTX, X52 Pro...eventually moving to a thrustmaster, and I am looking at a gaming chair. After a month using ED with my Rift, I am finally comfortable with it and it is completely natural now, can't imagine playing ED without it. Your in for a treat, just don't get frustrated, follow the forum post on how to set it up, once setup it works very well. Can't say the same for other games yet though.
