On my seeming constant disconnect with "The Forum"

The gold standard for on-line FPS play is 60fps. Elite is an on-line FPS now, no? Once the game is fixed try a legs CZ with other CMDRs present and lock your framerate to 30fps. Come back and let everyone know how it went.
I have greater than 60 FPS... No issue 🤷‍♂️

I don't understand the obsession with telling people who are having serious issues with the game to "simmer down" while those who are having issues are certainly not telling you that you shouldn't enjoy being a player who isn't having any issues at all.

If you want to get up on your soap box and post that you're enjoying the game, by all means. I don't mind seeing what people actually enjoy about Odyssey, but this whole telling people it's their fault for an obviously less than stellar launch, and they should just "simmer down" because you finished a few missions is beyond me. This isn't some charity community gaming work, but a multi-million dollar company asking for your money. And like any product that's advertised, it should work as advertised. Not for some, not for half, but for everyone's money that they take. There's a difference between a few bugs at launch and major difficulties with performance, gameplay, etc.

Stop telling people not to be angry when they have every right to be.

I've had issues, sure, but a lot of what's on here is just [rear end] hurt and hyperbole. Folks just like to be in the dogpile.

Is it what was promised? No.

Is it working seamlessly? No.

Have I experienced EDO bugs? Yes. I'm downloading my EGS commander for the third time right now. :)

However, I'm confident it'll work out. I've spent long enough in an imperfect ED universe to know that you make your own enjoyment in this game. Not everything will always work perfectly - you shrug and move on. FDev earned my 40 quid a long time ago. If I never play another day, I've had my moneysworth and more.

In the meantime if something stops me playing - well, I just picked up Witcher 3 on sale, so I won't be bored.

So some of these comments remind me of the old 80s mags about old record players, and how some were more superior that others where there was no possible way with the human hearing they could tell the difference.

13ms, 75hz. If your lucky.

Most people are below it..

If your wanting more than this, your just chasing rainbows

So through this whole "yes, no" thing, all we have at the end of the line is your confidence, which is based on... what?

Well, 75fps IS above 60fps, But if you've half an hour or so to spare, you could take a look at Linus Tech Tips investigating the idea of Frames winning games...

I'll even link you the vid:

It's clear a fair number of people are having problems with the launch, and I've had a few myself, though not as bad as some, so this is in no way meant to invalidate those experiences. Overall, Odyssey has gotten me excited about the game again. I do agree with the OP that it feels like part of this forum just seems to be here to tear down Frontier, to a degree that feels disproportional, even with all the issues with the game. r/EliteDangerous has been far better in my experience.

The most curious thing I'm reading is that even 'high end' hardware isn't immune to performance issues.
I 'got around' things by just tweaking settings - and for combat switching to 1440 - that works quite well.
Sooner or later we'll get some better optimisation to Odyssey (preferably sooner!) and things should only get better from there.

You mean with the top post in the subreddit right now that's not a joke and/or meme asking players to tag the game as an unfinished, early access beta?

And you should get more knowledgeable then. The max FPS a human eyes can see vary, but is between 60 to 120. But, and it's a big but (no pun), frequency play a major role to.

And no, I can't tell the difference between 120 and 250fps. In fact, I can't tell it over 60. Most of my games are capped at 60 for that reason, because otherwise it's a waste of work for my computer.
Smooth sailing for me. 60FPS throughout so far....it's dropping down to 48 in stations and in the 30's on foot...not perceptible difference to my eyes, though.

But I am an '86 CMDR....maybe it's because I'm's old.

But can you (or anyone) explain what's so disproportional about the reactions we're seeing?

Or why according to you, these people are supposedly out to "tear down Frontier"?

I see these conspiracies in posts like yours but they never seem to have any basis or substance to them.

People are rage quitting before patch day is over and OMGWTFBBQ'ing in Steam reviews and the DLC hasn't even been out for a full week. The threads are piling on....there's glee in the perceived failure. It's so over the top. Like it or don't, refund or don't....just quit with the G5 Focused Virtue Signalling and C8 Biowaste dispensing.

I agree, which is largely why I come here to mock the entitled, and be a general pain in the bottom! It'll cool down soon mate :)
Oh I came here to mock all of those people that persisted with a dead horse long after the autopsy report hand already been filed... Still, it makes for entertainment of a kind 🙂🍿

As for the OP being taken aback by the negative feedback... Call it entitled if it makes you feel better 😁

Call it Capitalism if it doesn't...

Either way, same outcome.

Edit: at this point it's looking very much like FD wanted to get into the lucrative FPS market but couldn't justify it to their shareholders, so EDO was the next best thing. I hope the learning curve at the expense of ED was worth it.

Good post. Unfortunately there are negatrons everywhere. I've played the last few days and it's been fine.
So you're the other person in the entire world that hasn't had any issues with this terrible product launch. At least there's 2 of you now.

When the manufacturer says "here, come and buy my product, it's finished and it's awesome" we should be able to judge that product by its merits. I just really don't see what's disproportional about that.

Any perceived glee might come from the fact that those of us that have been warning against preordering and whiteknighting in various communities for years and to little avail, could see this nonsense coming from a mile away.

Many fans try to prevent others from talking about the very issues we're experiencing the symptoms of right now, and are often succesful. This is why many are using this opportunity to bring the topic up for debate.

EDIT: edited because it came across more accusatory than I wanted.
