Its been linked here and discussed, but it doesnt mean anything. Really. Knowing what the short-term goals of game X are means nothing about knowing anything about the long term development of Game Y. For example, the 4chan leak of RDR2 being announced for pc on april 22th was also complete nonsense, as compelling as it seemed to many.
Ehm... yes, this thread is all about this.
I'm not saying what's gonna be released (not even legs can be confirmed until FDEV says so), I'm just saying what most of players voted in the last survey, and that was not Legs.

It takes a strange kind of cynicism to think they've put most of a 100+ team on 2 years of full production to not tackle content they pre-sold with lifetime passes.

As an LEP owner, and once player since the beta, I'd be happy to see either, particularly atmospheric planets.
Both would entice me to start up the game again, I just don't have much optimism that either will happen.
On the plus side, if they do, I'll be pleasantly surprised, and won't have to pay for them!
Do we know the current team size assigned to ED? 100+ is a lot of people. Or is that the entire frontier dev team divided amongst the full portfolio of products? I’d certainly understand where golgot is coming from if it were 100 dedicated to ED... must be something BIG in the pipeline, one would imagine....
Its interesting and fits with the lore and general aesthetic. It also doesn't require tremendously unique skills and I've seen my fair share of convincing 4chan leaks. Again: it very well could be true, but I am not going to get swept away with stuff like this. I expect a Q4 holiday announcement, and I'll see then.

The author of the leak only said they haven't HEARD anything on atmospheres. That doesn't mean it isn't being worked on. Especially when you consider the fog and gasses being added on certain planets. Also Gas giant mining was always in the original plan. That would need atmosphere. My own prediction is that we will get a version of both. Like we did with horizons, which then gets built up further over time. Just my 5 cents worth.That leak said nothing about Atmosphere landing. My most desired update to ED.

Why would you announce a late 2020 release then? That wouldn't suit their marketing at all.
To create enthousiasm -> improve xmas sales. They are not going to pass on easy sales just to reveal it summer 2020...
I think atmospherics vs legs breaks down to new settings vs new mechanics. I’d rather have new mechanics.

thinking like that is cliche and too 20th century, the overwhelming evidences points to space legs and you holdout because devs have bad communication to there fans?

I'd love to see them come with or after some expanded planetary landings - at the very least Gas planets (the current space clouds and turbulence from neutron stars means 65% of the gas-planet work is done... add some more cloud life, mine-able gas pockets and a cloud-city-esc landing platform and ya done).
(Also IIRC the 'leak' missed many of the now announced JP features, so I'm still not sold on them).
