One last try: does anyone know why hotspots won't stay illuminated?

I'm sorry to re-ask a question I've posted a couple times in other threads the past month, without response -- so I promise this will be the last time! I don't want to beat this dead horse any more than you guys want to see it beaten!

For me, neither newly- nor previously-surface-scanned planetary rings illuminate with the yellow-orange glow like they used to. I can still see the "hotspot" marked in the Nav panel and see the point-of-interest marker on the rings, so I can still sort of find what I need. But without the glow, it's impossible to gauge how large the hotspot is and/or where it overlaps most significantly with a neighboring hotspot. Once in a while, I'll be able to see the glow as I approach a previously-scanned planet from a great distance, but it always disappears long before I'm close enough to point my ship toward it. Dropping into/out of super-cruise has no effect.

I'm using a GeForece 3060 Ti w/ Quest 2 VR, if that matters. Would be grateful if anyone who has experienced/solved a similar issue might weight in with some advice.

Many thanks!

When you have previously scanned a ring you will only see the hotspots if you have got a Detailed Surface Scanner fitted.

If you are loosing the hotspots while still in the same system ie: visiting another planet and then flying back there is a known fault, just log out to the start screen and log back in again before getting to the ring and the hotspots will re-appear as soon as you low wake again.

Are you in the correct mode? Hotspot highlights do not show in combat mode.

Yes, sometimes hotspots disappear visually.. A relog brings them back.. For like 30 seconds..

It goes away eventually and hotspots will stay visible. I have no idea what is causing this.

It's a bug. Logging sorts it. That's when you lose them after leaving the rings, then go back without jumping out of the system.

Appreciate the responses all. Unfortunately, no amount of re-logs solves the issue for me. this used to happen to me exactly as you describe: they'd disappear but come back with a re-log. Sometimes even just hopping into super-cruise would re-enable. But not anymore. Even with a surface scanner fitted, in Analysis mode, in super-cruise or real space, after a main menu or desktop log, they simply never show up anymore except from a great distance, but disappear as I get closer.

Luckily Odyssey is coming, so without doubt this and every other bug we'd like to see resolved will be fixed. That's what you guys are expecting, too, right? ;)

I don't think you're the only one experiencing this sadly mate, I don't know of any workaround beyond the logging, if you have a DSS and analysis mode.

It's a longshot, but have you tried flicking the modes whilst changing fire groups? I doubt it will do sod all, but you never know.

I've no clue if this might work, but have you tried selling the DSS on that ship, and rebuying it, maybe even in a different slot, then try again? Or put one in a different ship and see if it's the same?

I'm not above lighting a stick of incense and sacrificing a live rooster if I thought it'd help. I'll try and see how things go.
