One or two observations...

Hello folks. Only just really started playing ED despite being a KS Backer and all that. Real life can be a kicker sometimes; what can i say. Anyhoos finally getting my space butt in gear and enjoying the game!

This is just a minor le I suppose but having just picked up one or two promotions and ranking etc I was a little underwhelmed with the in-game email! I seem to recall a little bit of military music when achieving rank in earlier elite versions for instance. I shall be sad indeed if I ever hit elite and for my efforts I get an email only (I expect cake, balloons and whatnot!).

The other thing that I think would help a newbie explorer would be some filter on galaxy map showing systems as totally unexplored. Maybe you can already but can't find it.

For the higher ranks you get an inbox message containing an animation with sound and it says "Right on commander!" IIRC.

A filter for systems unexplored by any commander you mean? No. You can filter for systems with no government, but you have to open the system map to see whether the star and its planets have been discovered by a commander.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

This puzzles me somewhat; came across a gas giant with water based life then another with ammonia life. Oh my! This should be big news! Send in son of son of son of Attenborough for documentary immediately! Quick check on material value of this astounding discovery and er, it's about a 10th of value of hauling biowaste (e.g crap) for some nice gentleman from Neunets Corp 1 system.

Is this me or does this sound backwards to say the least? Or in ED universe new lifeforms are more common than sewage services?

The rather odd balance of financial rewards is something you'll come to accept in ED.

There are things you do for credits and there are things you do for fun and screenshots and they rarely coincide.

Yeah its very silly, Terraformable water worlds and Earth Likes pay WAY more. Which makes sense, for a expoentially growing population. But i would think it better if certain factions/corporations paying more for some more than others. Like a more scientifically minded faction paying for life bearing worlds or neutron stars. While a mining corp would pay for rocky and high metal content worlds.
