If you're serious about getting into pvp at some point then eventually I'd start looking at some of the dedicated groups on the forums and elsewhere, I know there are active communities in reddit, various discords etc. Others will have to advise you on those though (and I'm sure they will), pvp is a bit for a world unto itself for those of us who don't really bother much with it.

That vid above is a decent primer on the powerplay modules.

This is called "self-bagging", don't buy more than 20 on your first round though, since there is a 20 container per CMDR limit near stations (100 in deep space)

Edit: as @Rat Catcher and @Bottom Hat already offered, the teabaggers help you to get the required quantities (mind you, when you already got your first load of 48 you're probably faster to do one more round than to arrange a top-off)

Don't you enjoy flying spaceships ? Maybe this is the wrong game for those instant gratification people.
More difficulty in the form of time intensive tasks is good gameplay.
